Confessions
The week passed by quickly, and every day at lunch period I would secretly meet Terrance in the woods. He would teach me some of the fighting strategies he learned and encouraged me on new ways I would use my gift for self defense. I should have felt guilty about it but I was rapturous instead. The “watchers” weren’t showing up for the past few days. It was either a good thing or a bad thing but sooner or later we will get rid of them. That made me think of my family, today I am going back to them. I could keep it away from crossing on my mind, but not for long. I wanted to make my confession at the right time. My thoughts quickly went towards my mother. She didn’t deserve my keeping things away from her. I would have to find a way to tell her and keep everyone else from finding out what I was hiding.
Grandpa and I were riding our way there. I practiced controlling my thoughts and feelings the whole week. We went under Dad's-thought-hearing range after a while and I immediately thought about how much I miss each one of my vampire family. I missed Dad's overprotective nature, Jasper’s sensibility, Alice’s hyper actions, Rosalie’s conceit, Grandpa Carlisle’s calm manner, Emmet’s recklessness, Esme’s kindness, and last but not least Mom herself.
Everyone was waiting there at the end of the drive-way, their faces were full of joy for my return. I smiled because I felt the same way. But I quickly saw Dad’s expression, he was smiling but his golden eyes were somewhere else, lost in thought. I got out of the car once it stopped. I gave Charlie a final hug and watched him leave the property. I then proceeded to greet my family.
“I missed you guys so much,” I said enthusiastically when we went inside.
They all looked at me wordlessly like I told them I got secretly married.
“What’s wrong?” I got worried.
“What has been up with you lately?” asked Rosalie.
“Nothing. Why are you all acting so strangely? I thought you would be happy I’m here,” I felt a bit hurt.
“No, no honey, we are glad you’re here,” Mom got up and hugged me in a flash. “We just realized you haven’t been acting like yourself recently.”
“What do you mean?” I asked with my eyebrows creasing together.
“Nessie, I could feel your stomach knotting since I got you from school the other day,” Jasper informed me.
“I told you befo…”
“We are not convinced by your theory,” Dad told me in an icy tone.
“Nessie, you’re in trouble. If there is something wrong we’ll help you with it,” Mom told me tenderly.
“Why are you all up against me like this? You know I could never hurt you,” I was on the edge of crying now. I quickly ran to the staircase to go upstairs, away from their accusative actions. Unfortunately when I was half-way there, Dad rushed along the stairs and held out my hand in front of me.
“Why are you wearing gloves?” his tone was taunting me and I knew the answer to his question but I didn’t want to think about it, he was about to take my glove off my hand when my mom held him against the wall.
