Prologue:

In 37,982 days, Bolt, as they called him, had learned a few things.  Most importantly however, was that he was never going to be free.  He couldn't remember anything before this place.  His first memory was waking up on the floor of this cell.  The walls were made of some kind of reinforced glass/plastic substance, that wouldn't break no matter how hard he'd pounded on it.  There were wires wrapped around his arms and his head.  They ran up into the ceiling, giving him just enough slack to be able to walk the length of the cell.

At first, he'd banged on the walls.  He was in the center of a large white room.  Electronic equipment circled him.  People walked by, averting their gaze from him.

Then, he'd torn all the wires from his body.  Men in full rubber suits had come in after that, and beat him.  He couldn't understand the language they were speaking, but he got the general idea.  Take the wires out again, and it'd be worse next time.

The cell wasn't soundproof, and after a while he found himself able to understand their language.  He found out that the machines were run by him.  As time continued to pass, he realized the entire city was powered by him.

He wasn't sure how it was possible, but he produced electricity.  It was constantly flowing from his body.  They called him a clean energy source.  He'd been...created.  For that purpose only.

So he sat in the cell and he stared at the people and he listening to their conversations.  Years passed, and his hopes of getting old and dying were dashed.  He never got older.

He was trapped.  He was going to spend the rest of forever in this place.  Providing energy for all these people that didn't even know where it was coming from.  From what he heard, the city was the largest and richest one in the land.  All because of him.
