Chapter 3
Violet's POV
"DONI!!" I yelled, hugging her tightly.
"Oh my God. Violet?!!!" She yelled back.
"Ah! I missed you!" we both said at the same time.
Doniya is Zayn's older sister. She was like my older sister too. We loved each other even though I was a bit annoying.
"Come in! How are you?" she asked, leading me inside.
"I'm great. How are you?" I asked.
"Perfect. Mum, Violet's arrived!" Doniya yelled.
"Great! Take her to the dining area!" Mrs. Malik replied from the kitchen.
We walked to the dining room together, where the long table was set. I recognized Mr. Malik and Saffa, Zayn's youngest sister.
"Violet Maroone! I haven't seen you since you were 13!" Mr. M exclaimed, hugging me.
"Hi, Mr. Malik! How have you been?"
"Mr. Malik? Who am I, your 6th grade history teacher? Call me Bruce!" he smiled. "And I have been marvelous, how have you survived without a dose of Bradford for 6th years?"
"I've been doing just fine, thanks." I chuckled. "Hi Saffa!"
Saffa looked at me and smiled. "Hi."
"You probably don't remember me. I haven't seen you since you were two." I smiled. "You're 8 right?"
"Yeah. Almost nine."
"Well you are very pretty." I laughed.
"Thank you!"
Just then, the sound of the front door opening and closing came to meet my ears."Mum, we're back!" A female voice yelled.
I heard footsteps, then saw a very pretty ten year old girl in a black and white sundress.
"Hi Wali." I said, recognizing Zayn's other sister, Waliyha.
"Uh, hey. Violet, right?" she asked.
"Yes. Wow, you've grown lots." I said.
"Good thing too, she was only around to your knees when you last saw her." a male voice said.
I looked up with a huge smile on my face knowing exactly who the owner to that voice was.
"Oh Zayn!!!!" I said running to him and giving him the best bear hug of life.
"Violet! Goodness, I've missed you so much!" He replied, still hugging me. My eyes began to fill with tears as I clinged to my best friend who I hadn't seen or talked to in 5 years.
"I'm sorry for not keeping in touch with you! It was a hard thing to do, trying to track you down." he said.
"What? I've just been in Connecticut. It shouldn't have even been the least bit hard to track me down. I've been keeping in contact with everyone else by phone calls and Skype. You're the one I can't seem to find a phone number for!" I exclaimed.
He scowled. "Yeah, they won't let me give out any personal information. Or contact people over Skype in things."
"They?" I asked. "Hey, maybe you can tell me what you've been up to. Your mother said I'd find out today."
"Oh. Yeah, it's unbelievable but I have been crazy busy. You wouldn't believe what I've been doing for the past two years." he said.
"What? Did Zayny-kins finally make an album?" I joked. He always had this crazy dream of becoming a singer. He was good too but I always thought he'd go to uni to become a English professor. That was his other, more logical dream.
"Something like that." he admitted.
My mouth sprung open. "For reals? Zayn! That's amazing! I'm so happy for you!"
"Vi, he's not finished." Doni interuppted.
"Oh."
Zayn laughed. "Okay, a couple years ago I auditioned for the X Factor and I made it through all the rounds... but not alone. The judges had came up with the idea to put me into a boyband they were forming. It was these guys Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall, and I. We turned into One Direction. We got third place in the competition but Simon Cowell, who was one of the judges, signed us to his label. We kind of got popular, people seem to like our music." he explained. Through the whole story, my eyes were widened and my mouth was agape.
"Kind of and seem to are understatements. People love One Direction. Their first single is so popular, each time I hear it I want to sock my little brother in the face." Doni said.
"Wait, wait. Harry and Louis? I met them today!" I realized.
"Oh. Yeah they became close with Victor and Veronica." Zayn smiled.
"Amazing." I said.
"Hey, Doni?" Wali called. She pulled out her phone and the beginning notes to a very familiar song began to play.
I gasped. "No way! This is your song? I absolutely adore this song!" I laughed, surprised. "You're insecure, don't know what for. You're turning heads when you walk through the door. Don't need make up, to cover up. Being the way that you are is enough."
"Oh turn it off!" Both Doni and Zayn laughed.
"Baby, you light up my world like nobody else!" the whole table sang. "The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, but when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, you don't know! You don't know your beautiful! And that's what makes you beautiful!"
