“Siya iyon, hindi ba?”

“What are you saying?”

“I’m not Leanne so please stop treating me like a stupid person ‘cause I’m not.”

“Mads—“

“I don’t mean a thing. I just want to sort things out. Is it Zia? Is she the girl you loved? Or should I say you still love?”

Kaming dalawa lang ang nandito ngayon sa veranda because the others are busy having fun and Leanne is still sleeping.

“how can you say that she’s the girl I used to love? I didn’t—“

“oh come on, Jin! Don’t try your luck on lying because I saw the way you look at each other. I know there’s something going on between you two. Who would have thought that the one that got away found the broken man?”

“yeah you’re right. She’s the girl I USED to love so it means she’s just a past so please stop babbling about her.”

“I have an idea, Jin. Bakit hindi mo siya sulutin kay BAD? Everything might be okay if you do that because the way I see it, you still have this chem—“

“can you hear yourself, Mads?” ngumiti siya ng hindi makapaniwala.

“Why? It’s the best idea I’ve thought if you win Zia’s heart this time, there’ll be a great chance for BAD and Leanne—“

“I’m happy with my life Mads. Masaya na ako sa kung anong nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon. Leanne and BAD can be together again if BAD will allow it and I’ll help him to do that but telling me to steal other man’s girl who used to be my ex? I won’t do that stupidity. I don’t want to go back to our memories which became a nightmare to me.”

I was shut for a moment with what he said. Who have thought that they’ll just exchange partners?

Tinitigan ko siya and utter the words that make him shut for a moment.

“Did you know that Zia won’t let go of BAD? The more you want them to be together again, the more Zia will hold him. You’re pushing her too hard and the one that got way pulling him that’s why they’ll never meet.”

He stood up and stares at me. “I’ll just check Leanne baka gising na siya.”

“Jin…” tawag ko nung maglalakad na sana siya.

“The way I know Zia, if she loves something or someone, she’ll protect that until forever. She’ll not gonna let go. She never will.” He said smilingly.

“…kung ganon hindi ka niya minahal?” mahinang sabi ko but I know he heard it. He’s still smiling but I know that smile is like a glass without water. Empty.

“Sometimes, we fall so deep and…fall out suddenly. Siguro minahal niya ako noon but that love is not enough for her to stay on my side.” Napaisip ako sa sinabi niya. Nakatingin lang ako sa may likuran niya habang papalayo siya.

Why is it called ‘falling so deep’ if it can vanish with just a blink of an eye? Why is it called ‘falling so deep’ if it will be not enough?

Falling in love is a complicated case and yet it’s more complicated to stay on that level.
