Chapter 1(Edited) This book is dedicated to everyone who believes in love, no matter what 'they' say, life is really about love, even if you don't believe in love it alway's seems to find it's way.
I walk down a gloomy alleyway trying to find my way back home but for all I know their dead and gone. Its pitch black and I can barely make out where I'm going, just the dull street lights that create a shiver of light to lead me along the way.
I freeze as soon as the clank and rattle sounds reach my ears. This clank and rattle is the same one I have in every dream but this time it's different, this time a large black thing swoops down from the roof tops and tries to grab me but fails to do so.
Was it a bat? A bird? No it was way bigger, more like a vampire. No, vampires don't exist. Then that makes my last and only other assumption--it was a human if that's even possible.
When I turn the corner I trip over my own feet. There stands a black silhouette with massive sleek black wings. I jump up from the ground and start running the way I came but then it happens! My feet slow uncontrollably and everything goes in slow motion except for the flying silhouette chasing me.
You know how when you have a bad dream and your trying to get away from the bad guy with the knife but when you go to get away you can’t ever run fast enough to get away so it feels like it never ends? Well that's exactly what's happening, just without the hole guy with the knife part that was um... from another dream.
Just as the black silhouette was about to catch me the moist earth rips open and creates a deep black hole filled to the top with fog. I fall in screaming, not sure when I'm going land or even if there is a bottom. I look up to see the black silhouette at the edge of the hole peering down with sharp glowing red eye's.
I shoot into a sitting position on my chair, making it push against the floor screeching as loud as my scream. ‘WOW! I need to take a chill pill. It was only a dream,’ I thought.
"Um…Lexis what are you doing?" asked my teacher, Mr. Jexton, while looking at my chin.
"I was resting my eyes?" I sound more like I'm asking a question than answering one but oh well I always fall asleep in science and get sent to the principal’s office.
I look around the class to see if anyone noticed I fell asleep, obviously they did because I sit in the middle of a laughing fit. They all clutch their stomachs, laughing so hard they could possibly piss their paints. I hear some even say, "look at her face.” ‘What’s wrong with my face?’ I thought.
"Well, I can’t send you to the office with you looking like that,” Mr. Jexton mumbles, "so you’re no longer going to be sitting beside Blix.” Mr. Jexton sternly points a finger at my best friend. "Lexis you will be at the back of the class next to Nixton."
I look back to meet a shimmering pair of electric blue eyes and his jet black hair just coming down barely over top of them, that’s Nixton. As I stand I shoot Blix a ‘help-me-I’m-gonna-die’ look but she just brushes it off and looks straight ahead, totally blocking me out.
Blix can be a complete bitch but under that pink hair of hers and those dark green eye she can be well--a bitch! My bitch.
When I sit next to Nixton I don't look his way no matter how hard it was, I kept my eyes forward.
Nixton is the ‘hot new comer’ to LHS, or Lex District High School, or as I call him ‘the handsome asshole’. Though I don't know him at all, I can tell he doesn't get along with many people. I use to think he was emo but he doesn't dress in as much black--not like I cared anyway. All girls at LHS are head over heels for Nixton except me. I have a thing for a guy in my PE class that goes by the name of Dexter.
I start to put my things away in my backpack but my shirt sleeve gets caught on the zipper. I rip my sleeve from the zippers grasp and roll the sleeves up so they don't get in the way.
"Mother fucker!" I hear Nixton curse under his breath.
My head snaps up to look at him, though he stares at at my lightning bolt shaped birthmark.
"What are you looking at?" I spit. His eyes snap up to meet mine.
“Your...um-mm-"
"Birthmark yeah so?" I ask annoyed with this kids stuttering nonsense.
"It's a lightning bolt"
"Well that's the biggest understatement of the year captain obvious" I turn and get my backpack just as the bell rings. I turn back around to say something nasty to the a-hole but he’s gone.
Make that fast handsome a-hole.
