Chapter Forty-Six – The Truth About Mia
Julian's Pov

"I adored her and I would have done anything for her, I would have given up my life for her, but I never got the chance." I started, stalling a little on talking about what happened.

"She's dead?" Bailey asked me and I nodded "What did she look like?" she asked me softly

"She was tiny for her age and she had bright green eyes long curly blonde hair and she loved to bother me, I pretended that it annoyed me." I smiled at the thoughts of her pranks

"Was she an ex-girlfriend?" Bailey asked and my eyes snapped to hers confused

"Of course not." I said and smiled slightly thinking of the very little I've said about her already and looked down at the movie in my hands; Barbie of swan lake. "Mia was my niece."

"Sara's daughter." She said and I nodded and she sighed in relief that it wasn't an ex "How old was she?" she asked me

"I was eighteen when she died and she was only five years old. She was the sweetest child you could ever imagine and she would crawl into my bed at night when she had a nightmare and I would put on her Barbie movie and she would curl up with me. Sara loved her, don't get me wrong, but she wasn't good at the whole parenting thing, I practically raised her." I said remembering the happy times.

"Uncle Jewel." I heard a little voice as I slept and I mumbled as someone poked my face until I opened my eyes to see a pair of green ones staring back at me. She had a big stuffed penguin I bought her because her little waddle as she walked reminded me of one.

She sucked on her thumb as she stood there waiting for me, her blanket over her arm that held Lion, which was her Penguins name; she was a strange child. She used to call me Jewel because she couldn't say my name and it stuck.

"Come her pretty girl." I picked up the most adorable three and a half year old and pressed play on Barbie; I didn't even need to put it in, it pretty much never left my dvd player.

"I had a bad dream." She mumbled around her thumb

"What happened?" I wrapped her in my arms and she lay on my chest

"The fisheys." Her eyes widened, she had a huge fear of fish for some reason.

"What did the fish do?" I asked.

"They tried to eats me; I don't want them to eat me." Her eyes welled up with tears and I wanted to smile, bad dreams about fish were her biggest worry and it would stay that way, I would never let him hurt her.

"Well I'll beat up any fishey that tries to eat you, I'll protect you Mia." I pushed her blonde curls from her face and she buried her face in my chest.

"They're mean fisheys" she mumbled

"Remember Lion eats fish, he would eat any fish that tried to hurt my Mia." I said and her eyes light up and she smiled

"My big Jewel." She grinned

"My little Mia." I kissed her nose which made her giggle

"My big Uncle." She poked my nose

"My little niece." I kissed her forehead

"My Promector." She tried to say protector as she pokes my forehead

"My little penguin" I tickled her making her laugh and she tried to squirm away and I blew on her tummy making her laugh louder

"Stop, Stop, Stop." She laughed and I finally did and grinned at her and she smile back at me
