Wild (Romance)

She was irritatingly beautiful.  Boys probably looked at her the way girls looked at Logan. And she knew it. Her hair flowed down in dark black waves and her eyes were bright green. Her leg was propped up against the locker and her arms were folded.  Her eyes were locked on me.

                “Hey Logan.” She said extending his name out long. She turned her attention to him for a brief second than returned to me.  Looking me up and down, she gave me ‘oh you’re nothing special’ and sighed. “Who’s the lost puppy dog?” She said turning her nose up towards me.

                I wasn’t affected by most mean girl’s comments I had gotten in the past but this one slightly hurt. I knew what she meant by it since I had referred to Roy as my puppy.  She clearly thought I was hopelessly in love with Logan and he didn’t give shit. He craned his neck back and me and then back to the girl.

                “Dannie this is Cassie. Cassie this is Dannie.” He said then walked over to a nearby locker. He opened it and slipped his cigarette packet in from his pocket. He walked back over standing next to Cassie to where all of us (including Roy) made a circle.

                I remembered hearing Cassie’s name before. Somehow it seemed to connect with a guy named Justin. Then it hit me. This was the girl that the irresistible Justin was in love with. I got that she was pretty but she seemed like the demanding type. The type of girl that would complain about guys treating her as equal but then requesting them to hold the door open for her all the time. She also looked like the type to hate me for no reason except I was with Logan and Roy.

                “Oh hi! Yeah I’m Cassie. I like your makeup its real pretty.” She said smiling like we were friends. I didn’t get if she was sincerely nice or if it was just an act. Janet had said she was a bitch. I didn’t want to judge but she defiantly looked like past bitches I had known. I had never been one to get in fights with girls.

                In fact the only fight I had ever gotten in to with someone I didn’t like was with a boy. He basically said I was trash and I called him gay. Then we became friends and he introduced me to his boyfriend. That’s why I liked being friends with guys. They never fought much and when they did they easily forgot about it. Girls tended to hold grudges and pretend to be friends only to be plotting against you behind your back.

                If Cassie was plotting she was real good at being rude and then being nice in a blink of an eye. I looked over at Roy because I felt like he had been neglected. He was standing there peering around as if he wasn’t usually in a situation like this.

                Noticing I was looking at him Cassie turns her head toward Roy.  “Roy! It’s like the 5th day of school and I’m just now seeing you!” She says smiling really big. Roy furrowed his eyebrows and adjusted the books in his arms. He looked side to side as if to say ‘are you talking to me’. When Cassie saw he wasn’t going to say anything she turned back to me.

                “So what landed someone like you here?” I sighed. I hoped people wouldn’t ask that every time I was introduced to someone new. Can’t the news just spread around so I don’t have to tell my life’s troubles over and over? It was bad enough having to wake up every morning in a place that basically screamed “You are here because you’re a screw up!” I bit my bottom lip and looked at Roy. I was not in the mood to get lost in Logan’s eyes. He would just distract me from Cassie who couldn’t seem to decide if she liked me or not.

                “I’m just here because I’m messed up” I snapped.  I knew one way or another I would have to deal with a bitch here. They had them everywhere. But I wasn’t going to waste time making sure she knew to back off. I was a bit surprised when Logan didn’t turn his attention back to the conversation. I was expecting him to be shocked I had sass in me.
