Chapter 11
Diana's POV
Cam kept glancing at me all the way there. He sat in the passenger seat while I drove. His eyes would casually look away when I would catch him starring.
“What is it?” I asked annoyed when he kept doing that for a while.
“Nothing,” He answered looking out the window.
Sighing I looked back at the road. The other day when he told me that my father and he have decided to keep me out from action with the rogues I got so pissed off. I would be out looking for the god damn rouges that killed my brother last year if it wasn’t for my clingy mother and stern father who told me he didn’t want to lose another beloved child…
“You know I’m just looking out for you.” Cam said like he was reading my mind, he also cleared up the silence that fell between us.
“Uh huh,”
“He was my best friend, almost like a brother.” Cam continued. “They tortured him before killing him you know.”
I clenched my jaw as anger seeped into my vines from remembering the way we found his body. “Then why won’t you convince my father to let me look for the bastards?” I gritted out gripping the steering wheel tight.
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” His answer made me calm down a bit because they didn’t want the same thing that happened to my brother to happen to me. “And because you suck and fighting.”
“I do not!”
“Yes you do.” He said in a way more calmer tone than mine.
“I do not and you know it!” I argued.
“I know you suck, that’s all I know.” He spoke nonchalantly and even smiled at how his words were having effect on me.
“I do not,” I whispered letting the argument go when I looked out my window to see people looking at our car like it was from outer space. Their mouths were hanging open and their eyes never strayed from it, creepy humans.
“It’s just a car.” I mumbled to myself while putting the car in parking outside a local grocery store.
“It’s not the car they are looking at, it’s you.” Cam said opening the car door and getting out.
“Do I have something on my face?” My hand unconsciously went to my face then I looked in the review mirror to check for myself before getting out too. I could hear Cam chuckle at my question as I stepped foot out the car. Right when I did though, a small breeze pasted by me, the smell it gave off tickled my nose and at the same time made my eyes watery. Its flowery scent just made my mind brush it off as allergies.
Cam tried to grab my hand but I slapped it away causing him to laugh and walk closely behind me, too close…
A bell rang went we passed the doors and like always Cam took a step back making it ring out again, then again and again until I grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the cereal section. I didn’t notice I was still hold his hand until some girl passed by us glaring my hand that was still hold his while we stood facing all the types of cereals there was. I quickly let his hand go but he didn’t seem to notice as he took a step forward, grabbing a brown box.
“Fernando, Carlo, Jake and Helena want coco puffs.” Cam spoke grabbing four of the same boxes. It seemed too much but we eat a LOT.
“Nicky wants the kind that has marshmallows and Denise wants Cheerios.” I spoke grabbing some boxes and quickly we both had our arms filled with different kind of cereal boxes.
“We forgot a cart,” Cam spoke out the obvious while looking a bit cute, not as cute as Angelo though. Why? Why did I just compare him to Angelo! “I’ll go get one.”
“You go do that, hurry up.” I demanded watching him glare at me from the way I was speaking to him.
