Chapter 31- Let's Get Started

"Do you really believe this'll work?" Emerald asks me with her big, hopeful eyes trained on me.

I nod, trying to keep quiet because Charlie, Emerald, and I snuck into the library. Right now, it is a couple of hours before sunrise. Charlie told Emerald to meet us at this time, and we all set an alarm to wake us in enough time to get ready and meet here. It was not easy since there are guards roaming around, making sure everyone is doing what we are supposed to. It took some effort but we made it to the library. Now, we sit at a small table.

"It has to work. It is a way to get out of the arranged marriage and for you two to be happy together." I whisper.

Emerald smiles at me, "Thank you."

"Well, Charlie is the one who gave me the idea about the veil." I state which makes Charlie give a look that says 'You're welcome' to Emerald.

Emerald looks over at Charlie, "Oh, Charlie! We can be together."

Charlie's expression changes into pure happiness. "I know, Emerald."

Suddenly, they embrace each other in a kiss. For them, it is a sweet and adorable moment, but for me, it was awkward. I just sit here awkwardly, being the third wheel like I usually am. When Dylan and Miles would hang out and watch a movie at the apartment, I would tag along because they watch some good movies! A lot of the time, they don't pay attention to movie...

Charlie and Emerald pull away and stare at each other, smiling. I watch them for a bit, but they don't notice me since they're in their own little world. Finally, I pretend to clear my throat overly loud, "So, we need to make a plan."

The couple automatically pulls away as if nothing happened. Charlie rubs the back of his neck, "Yea, right. Um, what are we going to do about both of your looks?"

Emerald and I exchange glances, "Maybe we can dye our hair?" Emerald suggests.

"Yea, but we would have to do it the day of the wedding, so it would have to be at a time where the queen isn't around." I say.

"Maybe we should get someone that we can trust into or plan." Charlie suggests.

"Bethany." Emerald and I speak at the same time.

"Could we let two people in on it?" I ask.

"I don't know. It may be too risky, Ari-" Charlie is interrupted by Emerald.

She shrugs, "I think it is fine if we let one more person. KC may be trustworthy."

My head nods fiercely, "Yea, so it's Bethany and KC."

Luckily, I asked Emerald what size dress she wears and if I can remember correctly, it was pretty much the same as mine. If we play our cards carefully and correctly, we may just make this work.

"So, which one of you gals are going to explain the plan to them?" Charlie asks, his voice a bit louder for my comfort so I put my pointer finger to my lips. He immediately understands my gesture and checks the doorway for anyone, but it was clear of any intruders.

When his attention is back to us, I speak up, "I'll do it."

"Are you sure, Arizona?" Emerald asks.

"Of course, I'm sure."

Charlie bites his lip slightly before he speaks, "I don't know... maybe you should let Emerald do it."

Rolling my eyes, I defend myself, "I can do it. Trust me, I can handle it and it will remain a secret."
