I awoke with a start, and my eyes flashed to the clock next to my bed. It read 4:31 am in bright green writing.

I wiped sweat off of my forehead and tried to calm down my breathing.

My usual nightmare was back and worse than ever.

As always, there's a beautiful brunette girl who's banging on the top of her coffin, begging me to let her out. As soon as I pull off the top of the coffin, she turns into a pile of bones.

This time, there was also a little 11 year old brunette boy who's crying and screaming, and begging me to help him escape a burning house, but as I run towards him, I never get any closer.

I took in a deep breath. None of it's real, at least not anymore.

Why do I love people I can't save?

I rolled over, and tried to go back to sleep for a little bit, before I had to wake up for school.

The next day during lunch, I met Grayson on the steps outside, like usual. He looked up at me with soft eyes, and patted the ground next to him.

"I'm sorry for running out on you like that last night" He muttered sincerely.

I wordlessly pulled him into a tight hug. I could tell from last night that he didn't want my pity, so I kept my mouth shut, but I felt it anyway.

"What was that for?" He asked, giving me a half smirk.

"Just because" I smiled.

Chloe and Josh came walking towards us, hand in hand, and plopped down on the steps, too. We all chatted during the period, and everything seemed totally normal.

"Mr. Sansonelli wanted to see me five minutes before class starts" Grayson rolled his eyes, looking down at his phone, "So I better go"

We all said bye to him, and he dissapeared into the building. Josh spun around to face me as soon as he was completely out of sight.

"So, you and Grayson, huh?" Josh asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

"It's not like that" I tried to explain, "He just- I don't know, he's just been so good to me since the breakup"

"God, that breakup was rough" Josh said, looking angry, "Brayden is such a fucker"

"Josh!" I said, surprised, "Aren't you guys friends?"

"Nah" Josh shook his head, "After him and Grayson ended up at war, the whole team kind of split apart. I'm too close to Grayson for me and Brayden to be okay"

"What happened between them?" I asked, curiousity burning up inside of me.

"Ask Grayson, it's not my place" He said, giving me a look.

"C'mon Josh!" I said, frustrated, "He won't tell me!"

"I can't believe Brayden never told you about it" Josh shook his head, slight smirk on his face.

"When did this happen?" I asked.

"A little more than a year ago" Josh said, giving me a look that indicated that I should be having some sort of revelation, but I wasn't.

"So, right around the time I started dating Brayden then?" I asked.

"Yes!" He shouted, smiling at me.

"Well, I guess that's why he didn't tell me, our relationship was brand new" I decided.

"You're an idiot, Serena" Josh sighed, "If you wanna know you'll have to find out from Grayson. Or Brayden, I guess"
