Chapter 5

I stared at the screen until it went black and then I placed the phone down and made a spur of the moment decision. Pulling on some shoes I grabbed my wallet and the room key and left to take the elevator down. When I located the supermarket close to the hotel I found a bunch of crappy foods as well as a tub of Ben n Jerry's ice cream, that last one was mostly for me.

When I came to the register it honestly looked like I was having a big pity party for myself. With both sweet and salty snacks, chocolate, skittles and a bag of ready to eat popcorn occupying the menu. The cashier didn't ask any questions, he just looked at me while smiling apologetically as if he was feeling my pain.

Eventually I made my way to the fourteenth floor, I'd left my phone in my room so I hoped I remembered the numbers right. Crossing my fingers that this wasn't some stranger's room I knocked on the door labeled 1401. There was some movement to be heard on the other side of the door and I heard footsteps before it opened.

Xander stared at me with obvious surprise. This was definitely not something he'd expected, which made it that much more fun.

   "We're having a movie night," I declared.

He stepped aside so I could come in and smiled. "We are?"

"Yes, please don't tell me you're one of those actors that can't stand to enjoy other movies? Holy mother of god!" I suddenly exclaimed as I had walked a few feet into the so-called hotel room. It resembled more of an apartment.

Taking the bag from my numb hands Xander tried to feign innocence. "What?"

"Like you don't know! This is like a palace!" I looked around at the vast space that had a pool table in the middle, as well as floor to ceiling windows and an electric fireplace. The city shined up at us from down under.

"I thought these kinds of rooms were a myth," I mumbled as I followed Xander towards the end of the room where there was an enormous flat screen TV perched on the otherwise white wall. "Well, I think this'll do," I joked.

I turned to Xander who was looking at me as if I was being very entertaining. "What?"

"Nothing," he smiled and sat down on the couch. "I just didn't expect to see you again tonight, but I'm glad I get the pleasure."

"I thought you could benefit from some company," I told him earnestly and plopped down next to him.

He had his head inside of the bag as he'd began unpacking. "Jesus, did you buy the entire store?"

   "No, silly, I bought two."

It didn't take long for us to set up, Xander showed me where to find the movies on the TV and left me to sift through them while he ordered us drinks and also asked for some spoons for the ice cream. One would think that a hotel room this size would have some cutlery, but no.

"Do you want to watch X-men?" I shouted as I kept trying to find anything to watch, the problem was that there were too many things to choose from.

"You like X-men?" It sounded as if this was not normal and I gave a weak laugh.

"Shouldn't I? Because I do, I'm sorry if that's a crime, or I'm not really." I went through the steps to view the movie and then pressed pause. I stretched out on the couch and eventually Xander came and leant on the back of the couch as we waited for the room service to arrive.

"When are you going back to LA?" I asked as I casually made myself at home, it was one of my many talents.

"Little under a week, I've got some appearances and shoots to do here before I can leave. How about you?"
