Jackson and I spent the better part of the morning in his room absentmindedly watching movies while he caught me up on what I'd missed while I'd been gone. Apparently he'd become an all star at lacrosse, even becoming a team captain. He also told me about his girlfriend he'd been with for most of high school, a girl named Lydia Martin. It was clear he was trying to play it cool, but I could tell from the way he talked about her that he really loved her.

I'd told him the same story I'd given David and Sarah when they asked - that I'd been kidnapped, then beaten and tortured for years before being able to escape. Parts of that were true, but I still felt a pang of guilt for lying to my twin. There was a time when I told him everything, even the parts of me I didn't always want to admit I had. I couldn't tell him anything about what really happened to me though. He'd probably think I was making up some story to cope with the trauma, and even if he did believe me, my world's far too dangerous to let him into. If I wanted to stay a twin, I couldn't tell him anything about me or what my life's been like since I've been gone.

"Kids, it's time for lunch! Come on down," Sarah's giddy voice called, distracting me from my guilt momentarily.

"Oh thank god, I'm fucking starving." Launching out of bed, my bare feet slapped against the cold hardwood floors. "Race ya!" I cheered, turning towards Jackson and sticking my tongue out at him before derbing off.

"Oh you're dead meat" I heard Jackson call from behind me as he too shot out of bed. I was halfway down the stairs before I could hear his heavy footfalls behind me.

"Too slow big bro," I teased as I reached the bottom and darted around the corner and started darted into the kitchen.

My eyes widened as I took in the feast Sarah had prepared. The table was so covered with food there was barely any room for the places she'd set for the four of us. There was a whole variety of breakfast foods from eggs, hash browns, sausage and bacon, to cereal, toast, french toast and crepes. She didn't skip on the drinks either - there was a huge jug of Sunny D right in the center, as well as white and chocolate milk, a pitcher of lemonade, and I could even smell the coffee brewing on the counter with three different choices of creamer laid beside it.

"Geeze Mom, you're feeding the four of us, not an army," I laughed as I beelined for the coffee.

"I know, but I wasn't sure what you'd like so I just made a bit of everything. It's been a long time since we were all together for a meal." I could hear the sadness dripping from her voice by the end of her sentence, causing me to frown as I grabbed my mug. I know she's not my real mom, so I really hadn't expected her to be so upset. I was only six when I got taken after all, it's not like she had as much time to grow to love me like she had with Jackson.

Speak of the devil.

"How are you so fast?" Jackson asked as he finally made his way into the kitchen, nudging me aside as to grab his own mug.

Shit, I hadn't thought to hold back my speed. I'm so used to having to race the rest of my squad to get some grub that I didn't even think about slowing down to appear normal.

"I... guess I was just so excited for a home cooked meal," I responded, hoping he hadn't noticed the slight pause.

"Yeah, I can understand that," was all he said before turning back to the table and starting to load up his plate. Letting out a quick sign of relief, I turned around to make myself a plate as well.

We weren't too far into eating before there was a quick rapping at the door. "Oh shit, that's probably Lydia. I completely forgot I was supposed to meet her for lunch today. Do you guys mind if I invite her to join us? She's gonna go off the rails if I just tell her to go home."
