I tugged at the bindings on my wrists, feeling them cutting into my skin as I did. Finally getting one of my hands free I began to quickly work at the other, hoping I could free myself in time.
Once both of my hands were free, I frantically looked around the dimly lit room, trying to find anyway out that I could. Setting my sights on a small window on the other side of the room I scrambled up from the dingy cot I was just tied to, my body aching from being in one position so long. Grabbing at the window I began to pull up, internally begging it to open.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." I heard as the door opened slowly, making me jump and turn around.
"Did you really think it would be that easy?" Caleb said as he closed the door behind him, a sinister smile stretching across his face as he spoke.
"Trust me baby, you won't be going anywhere anytime soon." He said, pulling a gun from behind his back..
"If I can't have you no one can." He said, slowly raising it to my face and pulling the trig-
"SAM! SAM!" I heard, my body being violently shaken.
"DAMMIT SAM! WAKE UP!" I opened my eyes to see James hovering over me, worry written clear across his face..
It was a dream.
But it felt so real.
"Oh thank god!" he said hugging me closely to him. I hugged him back tightly, clinging to him as if he were my lifeline.
"Caleb" was all I managed to choke out before I broke down. Sobs wracking there way through my body.
"I know, I know." Was all he said, rocking me back and forth slowly. "It was just a dream Sam." He said.
Listening to the sounds of his easy breathing, and steady heart beat I could begin to finally feel myself calm down.
"It seemed so real." I whispered, looking up to see his green eyes staring back at me.
"It's okay Sam." He said softly, rubbing his knuckles across my cheek softly. I crawled off of his lap, falling back on my pillow next to him, taking a deep breath. This is what the past four nights have been like since I came home.
After a few minutes of sitting in silence I looked over to the clock. 4:45am.
"Coffee?" I asked James as I sat up slowly. My shoulder was still healing and my body still stiff, making getting around more of a challenge than usual.
"Ill get it." He said, looking at me with concerned eyes.
"Why don't you go and take a hot bath." He continued, standing up to help me get out of bed. I nodded my head and headed out of our room and down the hall to the bathroom. I started the tap and began to slowly strip my clothes off, being mindful of my shoulder in the process. Once I was done I turned to get into the bath, catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror as I did. My once bright blue eyes were now dull, dark circles surrounding them from lack of sleep. These nightmares were really beginning to take a toll on me.
Taking a deep breath I stepped into the tub, sinking down slowly and letting the hot water relax my muscles. I knew James was worried about me. But the doctor said that this was something to be expected after going through a traumatic experience.
"Sam?" I heard James say through the door.
"Come in" I said. Looking up at him I couldn't help but smile. His dark hair was everywhere, yet still managed to look sexy.
"You okay?" he asked my cautiously.
"Yeah. I'm okay." I said, reaching my hand up from the water for him to take, making a small smile form on his lips as he took it, coming to sit next to the bathtub.
"There not getting any better?" he asked softly as he rubbed his thumb across the back of my hand.
"It's only been four days James. The doctor said these things take time." I answered. He nodded his head looking down at the floor.
"Hey" I said, making him look into my eyes. "As long as I have you I will be fine." I said, leaning over to softly kiss his lips.
"I love you." He said against my lips, making me smile against his.
"I love you too." I replied.
After I got out of the bath James and I spent what seemed like hours snuggled up on the couch watching movies and drinking coffee before his phone rang.
"Hello?" he answered. Holding up his finger in a 'one minute' sign. I nodded my head and turned my attention back to the TV as he stood from the couch and walked into the other room.
A few minutes later he walked back in the room with a big smile on his face.
"Who was that?" I asked curiously.
"Julie. She wants to come over later with the guys. I guess she's doing much better." He said sitting down next to me and hugging me into his side.
