Chapter 10

Tara's POV

It had been a week since the confrontation in Brad's office. He was curt when I came in for work, he never stayed around long enough to have a conversation or to give me one his searing kisses. I know I had said that I did not want him, but he looked so damn good. I had to restrain myself every single day.

It was Saturday and I was not going to stay cooped up in my room. I quickly got some clothes on and headed downstairs to get some food in my growling stomach before I went for a run.

"Hey guys" I called to Kelly and Anthony who were both having breakfast.

"Hey tee" Kelly called as she drew me in her embrace. Anthony just waved as his mouth was packed with food.

"Don't mind Anthony, he's just being a pig today!" She said as she rolled her eyes at her mate. Anthony smirked at her and slapped her ass as she walked by which earned him a deadly glare.

I smiled at the happy couple, they were so good together.

"So what are you guys up to for today?" I asked them.

"Well, we will be working" Anthony replied his mouth now free of food.

"Oh ok, I was hoping we could hang" I told them

"The only person who you should want to 'hang' with is Brad" I rolled my eyes at Kelly.

"How many times do I have to tell you that he's not my type?"

"What the hell do you mean not your type?!? He's your mate for christ's sake, when are you going to stop acting like an old prude?" Kelly was really pissed.

"Urrggh!!! I can't understand you at times, don't you see that you're robbing yourself and him by doing this?" Her voice soften as she pleaded with me.

"Look, I know you want what is best for me, but I don't think Brad is it, I understand that he's my mate but I don't think it will work an-"

"You have not even given us a chance" I heard Brad's deep sexy voice say from the kitchen door.

I glanced up at him and I saw the hurt and regret in his eyes.

"How can I give anything a chance? After what you said to me that day at the church? You are a player, you even have a mistress!" I flung at him, jealousy ate at me as I thought of the mistress he had back in Europe.

"Kathleen and I are no longer together, that relationship ended before I left Europe, she had become an inconvenience"

"Is that so? I suppose I will become an inconvenience also, I think don't think so Brad" and with that I left the kitchen.

"Tara wait!" I heard him call after me, I was confused, I could not deal with him right now. I shifted as I got to the edge of the forest. My wolf was full white, I was quite proud of my wolf's physique, I was large, strong and athletic, thanks to the many hours of exercise each week. I ran swiftly through the familiar woods towards my 'thinking spot'. The scenery has never failed to take my breath away.

I slowed to a trot as I approached my destination. No one ever came to this side of the creek, so no one knew how wonderful it was. The water glistened in the morning sun. I had always kept a bikini hidden out here and so I shifted and quickly donned my swim wear.

The water looked so inviting, as I was about to dive in, a familiar scent wafted towards me, I smiled as I saw him step from out of the trees.

"How did you find me?" Brad stood there looking like he had just stepped from the pages of a sporting magazine, absolutely sexy.

"Actually I always come here to think, clear my head"

"What is it that you wanted to clear from your head" I asked him. His eyes slowly traveled the length of my body, like a soft caress, I was suddenly very self conscious.

"You" he said, his voice laced with desire. His eyes showed exactly what he was thinking. I turned suddenly and dived into the water, I needed to cool off the steam that was racing through my body.

I felt strong arms encircle my waist, I jumped in surprise, I sighed gently as his warmth comforted me. The water was lapping against us gently, I turned to face Brad, he smiled at me gently.

"I don't know what's happening Tara, but I feel drawn to you, I care about you and I know that I will never do anything to deliberately hurt you" he whispered his eyes shone with sincerity.

"Before I met you I was hell bent on living my life to suit myself. The past few days have been hell, I can't sleep, only thoughts of you fill my mind, I want you to give me a chance to love you." He looked at me waiting for an answer.
