The next day Ellington arrives at our door. We give him a quick tour, then we get right to business.
"Give us a beat," Ross says.
Ellington twirls the drumsticks in his hands before gracefully pounding out a beat.
Everyone claps for him. Ross nods and starts handing out papers. "Our first song. It's called 'Without You'. Beatrice-I mean Raelyn and I sorta wrote this on accident."
Ellington bangs his drumsticks together six times, then we start. The guitar and bass blend into a soft tune. Riker starts.

Ross and I start singing together.

Next came Rocky's voice.

As we finish we hear a slow clap. It is Rydel. "Clap clap clap. You guys are so good, you should play a gig."
Ross took it as a compliment. "Way ahead of ya. Already booked us one."
I spit out my water.
