April 16th. The big day. It was Chance's birthday and I felt like we had the best party planned for him. We had rented out a party room at this club, which we were going to after a cookout at the park. Taylor was supposed to perform a song or two. Then the rest of the night would be laughing, good times, music, dancing, and just partying away.

I called Chance and told him to be ready by 8. We were planning to be done around 1ish, maybe later. It all depended on how everything pulled together. Our boy Quincey's girlfriend was pregnant, so she decided she wasn't going to come. She offered to be the babysitter so we were dropping all of the kids off there later. It was all seeming like it was going to be a great night. All the kids having a sleepover together, all the adults just enjoying themselves. Great I tell you, great.

I had Taylor out right now picking up a bunch of drinks. The club had a bar in the party room, but them prices be outrageous to hire a bartender for the night, then you still got to pay for the drinks. Jasmine and a few of the other girls were out shopping for food. It was mostly the cookout food, but they were also picking up snacks and stuff that the kids were going to eat while at Quincey's house.

I was currently at the club room with Quincey and Bert working on decorations. We were seriously giving back to Chance for everything he's done for us. I'm talking about a thank you for all the years of parties and cookouts he's had for us. He really deserved something.

We were in the middle of hanging up a huge 'happy birthday' banner on the back wall when my phone started ringing. It was Chance.

"Y'all don't say anything yet, it's him." I said, making sure neither of them mentioned it. Especially since Quincey's voice was kind of loud.

The phone call was pretty short. Chance was just telling me that the song submission was finalized and he did it completely. It was no longer something we were just thinking about doing.

I hadn't completely decided when we were going to throw gifts in there. It was probably going to be during the cookout. That's when all of the kids would be around still, so everyone would still have their heads in the game. At the club wouldn't be too great because everyone will have already had some drinks. Jasmine and I's gift to him was a round trip ticket to Bali. Chance has been saying he wanted to go there since he was little but he's never gotten an opportunity for it.

Taylor walked in with six packs in both hands.

"Hey, can y'all go grab the bags with liquor in them? There's also a few more six packs, and then some twelves of different sodas."

Quincey and Bert walked out and Taylor sat everything down on the counter in there. I walked behind the counter and found the cooler. We began filling it with all the drinks as they brought them in so they would be cold by tonight.

"This room has everything man." Taylor said.

I nodded, "Karaoke, there's a photo booth corner over there," I said, pointing to the corner. "In a few we're going to blow up a few balloons, fill them with index cards with dumb shit written on them. Every few we'll pop them and do what it says. Then there's just going to be hella other balloons for decoration."

Taylor smirked, "Can I start throwing together some ideas?"

His smirk meant he was about to put Chance through hell with these cards. "Make some for everyone and others just for Chance."

We were going to have a lot of food catered later on and that was pretty much our night. I went out to Taylor's car and got the plates, cups, and utensils he had picked up and took them to the bar area.
