Chapter Three: The Stranger
Drake opened up his eyes slowly; He found himself in a bed. He was naked and he was covered with a blanket that kept him warm. He analyzed the room. He never knew such a place. The room was warm and cosy. It wasn't decorated with many furnitures or any paintings. He saw the fire burning in the fire place in the corner of the room, doing its job well. He was surprised how he got here.
"So you're up!" said a man who was holding a cup of tea.
The man looked of about late thrities. He had light brown hairs with a moustache. He was tall but little fat. He had pockmarks of pimples on his cheeks. He looked quite charming and young even though he was not that young.
"Where am I? Who are you? How did you get here? asked the confused boy. He was still glancing around the room to get any clue of the place.
"You are at my home. I am Austin Zeath. I brought you here. You were dying on the streets over there in the rainy climate. Your clothes got totally wet, they were already worn out and old. I have hanged them so they would get dry. Here, have some hot tea. It will rejunevate your energy." said the man with a friendly smile.
"How long have I been unconcious?" asked Drake picking up the cup of tea.
"More than six hours. I thought you won't come back to concious soon and it might be a serious case. But in between you kept whispering something so I knew your health wasn't critical. How did you get to that situation?" asked Austin in a concerned tone.
Drake sipped the herbal tea. It was hot and it burned his tongue a bit. He liked the taste of the tea, but decided to drink after it gets a little cool. "I was thrown out from the house. I was suspected for a robbery in the shop where I worked for. It wasn't me, it was the other guy. I couldn't explain anything to the owner and he threw me from the house where I lived with him" said Drake in a cold voice. He thought if he could ever make this point clear in front of David that he was innocent.
"Oh! I see. Thats a bad thing. Where are your parents?"
"I have no one in this world. I am an orphan."
"Oh I am sorry. Well don't worry, you can stay with me Mr. umm-"
"Drake. Drake Copper ."
"Oh okay, that is a nice name. Drake, you can stay with me. I'll take care of you. I always feel lonely. I have no friends in Floryscent and I might get a help from you to take care of my house."
"Yeah sure that would be great. Thanks a lot for bringing me here and taking care of me. I hope I am not a burden to you?"
"Not at all! I have always wanted a son but due to less income and unstable family I couldn't get married. I'll take care of you as you're my own son!"
"Thank you. No one has helped me the way you have done."
"You are always welcome. Drink the tea now and I'll bring some food for you. You have been starving I guess!"
"Yeah from past three days."
Drake started eating hastily just as the food was served to him. Austin smiled at him. "So what do you do, uncle?" Drake asked with a chicken leg stuffed in his mouth
"Well I was a teacher of magic and martial arts. But unfortunately, while teaching accidently a student got amnesia because of me. I had to resign from the school and my magical power was sealed."
"Oh! Thats pretty bad. Well what do you do now?"
"I am a lecturer at the University of Hytan. I am earning well enough to fulfill our needs. You don't need to be bothere of that" he smiled as Drake continued with dessert.
Drake finished eating as he saw Austin came inside the house settling down the umbrella and in the other hand he held some bag. He had gone to market for some reason.
"Here, I brought you some new clothes. Wear them, your old clothes suck. You should try these. I hope you like them."
"Awww thank you so much uncle Austin. I am so happy that I met a person like you! God certainly helps good people in every way he can!"
Austin smiled at this statement and handed him the box of clothes. Drake was eager to try them. He wore the first pair which consisted of a red shirt, made of bright cotton. It was bright and vivid to catch attention of any person. The pattern was beautiful and it was paired with a blue jeans that had a narrow cut at the bottom. The next pair was an attrative white jacket attached with a hood. It was fitting perfectly and paired with a black jeans having the same narrow cut at the bottom. Drake definitely praised the new clothes he had recieved. He was happy Austin was not only helpful and kind hearted but his thoughts were always bent in a positive manner and he was a very co-operative man.
