Dating The Nerd (07)

You know the one thing that I love about being a new student? The fact that I could be observant without being judgemental.

In class, there's always that one person who disrupts the class and get away with it. The one that cracks a joke and the whole class' attention is on them. But what I hate the most about these type of people is that they think that stop a person from learning for their own entertainment. And when the teacher asks everyone who did it, they would deny it.

Then there's that girl who your talking to. The minute that your back is turned, they would turned to the smirking girls behind her and say, 'Oh god. Why don't she just leave me alone? She's so annoying' And laugh about you. In other words, backstabbers.

Next is the normal people. Well normal enough until they get home. They won't dare try doing a crazy thing fearing the consequences behind if they did. They would try to fit in, to blend in.

But what's similar about all of these people?

They're all doing it for one thing; popularity.

And that's what I liked about Niall; he wasn't any of those things. He doesn't hang around with me for what people think of me. So I had nothing to worry about him being fake. I could trust him.

I watched as Niall fidgeted with his fingers, interlocking them together and then seperating them again. Every now and then, when the teacher would call out a name he would jump up a bit in his seat. As if he expected to be picked. But that was ten pairs ago, I bet any moment now the teacher would call us.

My eyes swiftly changed its focus back to the front, where Ryan and this other boy were doing a rap on 'determination'. As expected the class would be laughing their heads off, especially when Tom, Ryan's partner, would utter the words, 'We ain't got no double chins, so lets go eat some chicken wings!'

In my opinion, they were making a complete fool out of themselves.

They finished with a grin on their faces, happy at the audiences response to their performance. The class clapped in a respectable manner.

Pushing his glasses. further up his nose, the teacher glanced down at his list of names. He was murmuring to himself, before saying aloud, "Katrina Ellington and Niall Horan, your next."

I confidentally rose from my seat; unfolding the crumbled lyrics as I did. As I walked down the aisle of chairs, I noticed that there wasn't anyone behind me. Turning around confirmed my suspicions: Niall was still in his chair.

"Niall,"I whispered sharply at him. "Niall stand up.

Niall just sat there staring blankly at me. He face noticeably paler. "I-I can't do this." He whispered softly. So soft that I could barely hear him from where I stood.

I sighed. "Niall, of course you can. Come on. Maybe it'll send out a message to the others." At this he hesitantly nodded and stood up from his chair. When we had reached the front, a few snickers went round the whole class. I saw Ryan mouth 'Retard' to the boy next to him and I did my best to give him a full glare.

"So, what are you going to do today?" The teacher interrupted the class' rude remarks.

"We had Inspiration as the theme of our song sir." I replied, as Niall was shaking by now. I understood where he got his nerves from. I used to be terribly nervous whenever I had o do something in front of a big crowd, but I had gotten used to it. My first time to sing in a crowd of people in a duet was when I was thirteen years old, which was in a school concert, but I had gotten past that now.

"You ready, Niall?" I nudged him on the elbow which seemed to get his attention. He merely nodded at me.

One, two three, I counted inside my head. I then took a deep breath and sang out the notes.

The song we made wasn't a don't to belt out to. It wasn't a song that had a good enough beat to make you dance to It.

"Skies are crying, I am watching. Catching teardrops in my hands. Only silence, as its ending. Like we never had a chance." I tried to picture a scene in my mind. I have always found that it helped me to put emotions into my voice when I did. But in this instance, there was only one scene that came up in my mind; when I caught Dean cheating on me. "Do you have to, make me feel like there's thing left of me..."
