When I walked into Simon’s dorm, I had to duck so I wouldn’t be hit in the eye by a dart. Breathing hard, I steadied myself by gripping the doorpost with both hands.

“What the hell are you doing?” I yelled, feeling spooked.

“Playing darts,” Antwan replied, sounding guilty. “I’m so sorry, Demona!”

Simon burst into the room in nothing but his boxer shorts, breathing hard. My panic must have woken him up, since his hair was still messy.

“Are you okay?” he asked worried, rushing over. Once he felt certain that I was just fine, he turned on Antwan. “I told you not to play darts in front of the door! It was only a matter of time before this was going to happen! What if you’d hit her in the eye?”

“Simon?”

All panic and anger was forgotten when Amy came out of Simon’s room, wearing one of his huge shirts with nothing underneath. I gaped at her, once again holding onto the doorpost to keep myself upright.

“You know that Jillian will know that she slept here, right?” I said eventually, not sure how to act in this situation. “With the spell on the dorms and everything.”

“Guido is hooking up with my roommate,” Amy assured me with a little smile. “So we just switched rooms. No one has to know.”

Even though I didn’t hate Amy like I had before, I didn’t like the fact that she and Simon were sleeping together. It didn’t make any sense for me to object to it, but I just felt icky. It wasn’t jealousy so much as repulsion. Simon was my ex after all, and I had liked being his first girlfriend, his first kiss, his first sexual experience… And now he was with Amy, a girl he didn’t even love, sleeping with her in the bed I used to crawl into night after night. I’d never worn his shirt for a nightgown. I tried to see if she was even wearing panties, but the shirt was too long to see.

Simon was scratching the back of his head in that cute nervous manner of him, trying to figure out something to say. If I had known about Amy being in his bed, I never would have come here in the first place. But after my morning run with Eros, I had just felt like coming here for some TV and breakfast before my Monday classes started. It was nice to still have some old habits with Simon, especially now that we both spent so much time with Eros and Amy.

“Let’s move the dartboard,” Antwan offered in an attempt to lighten the mood. “Wouldn’t want to almost behead Demona again.”

I scoffed. “I think you’d need a little more than a dart to decapitate me.”

Just when we were hanging the board somewhere safer, Dylan walked into the room. He took one look around him and grinned.

“Did Christmas morning come early?” he asked, taking in Simon’s and Amy’s appearances. “Is he any good in the sack?” he proceeded to ask Amy with a nod in Simon’s direction. “I always figured he’d be a very patient lover.”

“Dylan!” I exclaimed, hitting him over the head with a book I found on the table. “Behave yourself!”

“Good morning to you too,” he grunted, rubbing the back of his head. “Was that really necessary?”

Simon and Amy retreated to his bedroom, hopefully getting dressed. I didn’t even want to think about what else they could be doing in there.

“What are you doing here anyway?” I asked Dylan.
