Chapter 2
---
Nine years later...
There were noises everywhere reflecting off the walls. It was too hard to comprehend in a place like this. There were multiple tables sitting all around the room and about the same amount of chairs among them. In the corner, there stood a long tan table where there was only one person sitting there. The person was a boy; his dark brown hair was messy, all over the place like he didn’t brush it out at all that morning, his sapphire blue eyes were moving left to right underneath his thick black glasses.
He held a book in his hands as he was eating his apple in the other hand. The book that he was reading was 11/22/63 by Stephen King. It is the newest Stephen Kings’ book. Mark was quite enjoying it, even though he has not a big fan of Stephen King. It was hard to put the book down once he started reading it. He was so engulfed into the book that he didn't even notice that someone was walking up to his table. The person was slender and tan; their hair was curly, long, and a light brown color that would shine in the sun’s light. The person sat down right next to him not even saying hello, Mark turned around to look at this person. He grinned as he said, “Why, hello Jenny, how are you this fine day?”
Jenny placed her elbows upon the table letting out a long sigh from her lips. Mark glanced at her putting down the book. There was something different about her, he wasn’t for sure what was, but there was something different. Jenny's face was turned away from him, his eyebrows went up. There was something wrong, he knows it. Whenever there is something wrong Jenny tends to not want to talk about it or she doesn't want to look at him.
This time, Mark let out a long sigh. “What is the matter, Jenny?” Mark questioned.
Jenny shook her head not saying anything.
Mark turned his body towards her to give her his undivided attention. He pushed up his glasses. "Look, Jenny, I know something is a matter. Please talk to me."
She still didn’t turn around to gaze at him. He rolled his eyes. He grazed his finger over his chin thinking of a plan to get Jenny to look at him.
His sapphire blue eyes sparkled with mischief. “Jenny,” he said. No reply.
“If you don’t tell me what’s going go, I think I’m going to have to focus you to say it,” he coaxed with humor in his voice. Jenny didn’t turn around or even made a noise.
Mark let out a long sigh. “Fine, suit yourself.”
He leaned towards her. He whispered into her ear, “I warned you.”
He placed his hands around her waist and then started tickling her. Jenny started spazzing out – her arms were flying in the air trying to stop Mark from tickling. She was laughing hard trying to move away from his touch. He kept on tickling her sides and stomach. Those are her most ticklish spots, he found that out the hard way when he was tackling her (playing some football) to the ground with her spazzing out, aka hitting him pretty hard.
Mark started tickling her neck, another deadly spot that made her spazz out, when he noticed it. She was wearing simple black glasses.
“S-stop!” she shrieked as she flailed her arms.
Mark stopped tickling her. Instead, he was gazing at her. A grin was upon her lips trying to catch her breath from the tickling. She took a deep breath in that’s when she noticed his staring.
“What?” she questioned.
Mark has never seen Jenny with glasses. He was still staring at her, which he didn’t mean to. It’s just that it caught him off guard. Not that she didn’t look good wearing glasses; she actually looked really good with them on (in his opinion).
“You are wearing glasses.”
Jenny bit her lip. “Yes, I am.”
Mark grinned. “You look very nice.”
“Really?”
“Yes, you look very good.”
She pushed her black glasses up her nose. “Thanks. I couldn’t find my contacts this morning and I happened to find these this instead.”
