I could not help myself. I balled my hands into fists and punched the wall. Pain shot through my knuckles and I brought it in, cradling my hand by my chest. I could feel the anger clogging my throat, on the verge of tears. It hurt when I swallowed. I tried to breathe and calm myself but felt unsatisfied. Instead, I grabbed the TV guide beside me on the kitchen island and threw it across the room with all my might. I did not wait to see where it hit or landed. I sunk to the floor and hugged my knees, tears snaking down my cheeks.

It had been a fine day. I’d pulled the pale curtains aside early, eager to be outside. I’d slipped into a long sleeved navy blue dress and pulled on my favourite shabby, knitted cardigan. I left a note on the fridge and escaped the hotel. I was hit by the strong gust of fresh air. The sun shone down on my face, and I smiled. The weather was on my side today.

I’d roamed the streets for a couple of hours, deciding it was never too early for souvenir shopping. I had several people in my mind that would be overjoyed by a small gift and soon I was engulfed by the cute boutiques and attiring stores. I had emerged at two and my had stomach churned. I’d laughed, realising I had skipped lunch. That’s when I’d received the text message. Looking back now, if I’d ignored it, maybe they would have given me another day.

Zayn-

Meet us at Hyde Park in twelve minutes? x

At first I had chuckled and pondered on the fact that Zayn must’ve have sneakily entered his number into my phone yesterday. Excitement soon ran through my veins and I’d typed in the location into my phone’s GPS app.

Hyde Park is one of London’s biggest parks, and I had a mild panic attack when I saw the 253 hectares.

‘Where…?’ I’d whispered, taken aback.

A long lake traversed the vegetation, with a small bridge to cross it. People were gathered by the water, throwing crumbs at the hungry ducks. I continued up the footpath searching hopelessly for a group of boys. I had also been worried; the park was mainly open, with not much privacy. Young fans would probably see them from a mile away. That wasn’t my case though. I’d surrendered and pulled out my phone.

Could you maybe be more specific?

I’d hoped I didn’t sound like a despairing lost cause, standing by a bench waiting for his reply. Fortunately he had not delayed too long.

Zayn-

Haha where are you?

I’d looked up at my surroundings, and attempted to word it.

By the lake? Ducks? Bench? There’s a memorial thing here, for Sir Edward Hunt or something.

            He had almost instantly answered.
