I am screaming at McGregor to get Brad to hospital. He tells me Brad doesn't deserve it. I disagree, everyone deserves a chance. Eventually he agrees, picks Brad up and runs out the door. He's extremely fast, so I try and get my super speed going, but I'm too worked up. I start to cry. I made this happen. It's my fault.
"Save him! Save him, McGregor!" I scream
I feel arms around my waist. They're soft, tender, but strong. They're Sally's arms. I sink to my knees, head drooping. The arm's don't let me fall. They catch me, and lay me flat on the ground. I look at the light above, drifting. I have to help Brad. I need to. It's my fault.
"It's all my fault..." I whisper.
"No, Nick. It's Brad's fault. He was jealous, angry," Sally is stern.
"My fault..." I am more quiet now.
"Nick, are you alright?" She is frightened now.
"My fau-" I close my eyes.
"Nick! Nick!" Shouts from so far away.
I'm in my own world before anyone can do anything.
========================
This place is dark. Very, very dark. But it is comfortable, because I know I control everything here. I am safe, for once. I walk around, looking at slowly forming shapes. The face of my Father passes by, laughing. My Mother smiling. Brad and I, seven years old, blowing out the candles on my Birthday cake together. I start to cry, inside my little world. If I am in the real world, I have no idea about it.
How could I let this happen to him? How could I have been so selfish? I was his best friend, no, I AM his best friend. I hope. McGregor shouldn't have hit him so hard. Not so hard... It wasn't Brad's fault that he got jealous. Not his fault... Mine. All my fault.
Then it hits me. My parents. I haven't even thought of them since I got saved at the mall. How are they right now? Are they worried? Probably. Called the police? Probably. I just hope no one like the man who attacked me payed them a visit. I need to find out. I need to wake up. WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
========================
I open my eyes. The room is dark now, and I hear heavy breathing. I try and sit up, but whack my head of the ceiling. Someone got me into my bed. I smile, thinking of how Sally held me. After I come back, I have to ask her out. I slip my legs over the side of the bed, and climb down slowly and carefully. I hop on to the floor, and glance at the bed below mine, Brad's. He's not there, still in the hospital I guess.
I check to make sure I have clothes on, before I go running out of my room again. I do, including my boots. I am walking towards the door when someone grabs me and pulls me back. It's Jason.
"Where are you going, Nick?" He whispers.
"None of your business, Jason," I sound angry.
"You're going to find your parents," He is grim looking.
"How do you know?" I hope he is not a Telepath.
He smiles, "You speak in your sleep."
"Oh, well, let me go,"
"I want to go with you,"
"Why?"
"You might need help, in case anyone attacks you. It happens a lot when any of us leave here."
I think for a second, then decide, "Ok, thanks I guess."
He smiles, "No problem."
"I want to come too," It's Caleb. I trust him, so I nod.
The two of them get all their clothes on quickly, and we slip out of the building, unnoticed.
