I could hear tiny drops of water echo in my ears and I tried to open my eyes, but couldn't even summon the strength to moan in pain. I could still feel my stomach burning with electricity, though it wasn't as bad as before. This was just dandy! I can't even see where the hell I am! Wait a minute, where's Akiye!?
My eyes shot open and a dark ceiling hung above me. I turned my head slightly, cursing internally when I felt a sharp pain in my neck. A blurry figure sat near me, I sighed and closed my eyes again, assuming that it was Akiye. I felt her shift next to me and suddenly all the pain in my body started fading. I felt my tightened muscles relax. Who would've thought Akiye could heal?
"Hey wake up." That wasn't Akiye's voice! My eyes shot open again and instantly I was holding the figure in a headlock, all my pain forgotten.
"Who are you?"
"Just keep calm and eat chocolate."
"...What?" This girl baffled me. What the hell does chocolate have to do with anything!?
"Here." She held out a piece of chocolate and I just stared at it, unblinking. "It's perfectly safe. See?" She took a bit out of the chocolate and held it out farther for me. This was so random. I had to be dreaming. That's it I'm dreaming!
I let her go and quickly pinched my arm. "What're you doing?"
"Trying to wake myself up..." I pinched my arm again.
"Just eat the chocolate." She was still holding it out to me. I hesitantly took it from her. She quickly took out her own and ate it then stepped over to the bars that trapped us. I looked back at the chocolate and took a bite. It was chocolate alright, but why the heck would she give it to me out of the blue?
I looked closer at her, though it was dark and I could barely see her, where she stood there was a little light from a passing guard. She had a pretty magenta colored hair that went down to her mid back. She wore a fishnet shirt that ended above her bellybutton with a white vest over it and a blue jacket with armor on the shoulders. She had a black choker with a gold medallion hanging off and brilliant green eyes. One arm was wrapped in bandages and both of her wrists had gold cuffs that matched the armor on her shoulders. She had fishnet shorts that ended just above her knee underneath blue shorty shorts. She wore a brown belt in the loops of the shorts and there was a gray belt with a gold buckle over her stomach that looked as if it used to hold a sword in place. She had regular blue ninja sandals and a headband with an hourglass figure. The Sand.
She bit her thumb suddenly and blood gushed forward while she performed what looked to be random hand seals to me. "Summoning Jutsu!" She slammed her hand down on the ground and seals appeared on the spot. A puff of smoke and a cute cream colored dog with a white belly, paws, and muzzle standing outside the cell we were in. Her ears were pointed like a little wolf and a purple scarf dangled at her paws. Her blue-ish green eyes glowed in the gloom. Little purple specks dotted the iris here and there.
"What'cha need Anika?" I nearly fell over when the thing talked. Then she looked in my direction, then around the cell we were trapped in. "Wow you really messed up."
Anika rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah I guess I did. Could you get the keys for me?"
"...Yeah..." She looked back at me for a moment then ran off in the direction the guard had taken.
A few moments passed and I continued nibbling on the chocolate. I didn't want to talk. I offered no words and in return, Anika offered me none. Suddenly, a snarl and the scream of the guard echoed in the prison. The jangling of keys came closer and the dog appeared. She set the keys down and reared onto her hind legs. When I looked closer to see what she was doing she ripped a slip of paper that had been stuck on the door to the cell, then she kicked the keys into the cell where Anika could reach them.
"Alright! Awesome job Layla!" Anika said excitedly as she held the key in the lock.
"Naturally" the little cream dog said doing a cute little bow that made me want to squeal.
The door to the cell swung open. Anika walked out and turned to me.
"Finish that up. Let's hurry."
I stared at her for a moment then looked down at the chocolate. "Why should I?" Sure the chocolate was good but there was no reason to eating it before we left.
"It's special chocolate, made from a sacred cocoa tree in my village. Hurry up and eat it. It'll keep the poison from making its rounds."
