It was a cool, clear, day in September when Derek Hale realized he was in love.

Yes, the brooding 23 year old alpha werewolf is in love. With whom you may ask? He’s in love with Stiles Stilinski. The only person Derek actually visibly enjoys being around- not that he’d ever admit it to anyone. Surprisingly, the 17 year old, babbling, adderal addicted teen is the one who stole Derek’s heart, and he doesn’t want it back.

When it happened, he doesn’t know. It could have been any of the times he pushed the annoying teen against the closest vertical surface he could find when Stiles was talking too much. Or the first time Stiles stood up to Derek-which no one ever does or did except Laura-when he was being an ass.

Now that he thinks about it, Stiles is the perfect match for him.  Stiles is hyper, talkative, and always happy. And Derek is brooding, quiet, and always angry. And Stiles is the one Derek cares most about and would do anything for.

After his family died, and his –later crazed- uncle was deemed comatose, Derek never thought he could be with just one person. Or that he would ever feel the sense of having a family again.

But while sitting in the burned down living room of his house after a long day of training, with his pack consisting of Scott, Lydia, Jackson, Danny, Stiles, and Allison (Stiles and Allison are still human).Watching Scott and Jackson arguing over who should get the last piece of the pie Allison baked, and Stiles trying to persuade Lydia, Allison, and Danny to watch the original Star Wars movies with him. Derek also realizes that yes, he’s in love with an amazing yet annoying 17 year old teenager, but he also has a family again, a pack. And he wouldn’t change it for the world.
