Vacation! (A YFM Fanfic)

“Hey pass the bread!”

“Ew tomatoes!”

“Tomatoes aren’t gross!”

“Yes they are!”

“Does it really matter?” I cut in amongst the growing argument. They all became silent.

“You didn’t have to stop talking!” we all laughed and continued to work on our sandwiches.

“So we have the whole week. What are we going to do?” Dee Jay asked.

“Whatever. I’ll go ahead and warn you at the end of the week though, probably Friday, I’ve got people coming over for-” Sarah Catherine glanced warily at Puff for a moment, “a party.” Puff’s eyes lit up and he quickly swallowed the bite he had just taken.

“What? Party!? Yes!” he cheered. Sarah Catherine rolled her eyes.

“This was a bad time to say that.” She muttered. Puff went on dancing around the kitchen.

“YES! Partypartypartyartypartyparty!” he jumped around.

“Eat your lunch Puff.” Tig instructed. He stopped.

“How can I? It’s a f****n’ party!”

“Just eat!” everyone exclaimed. He glared and sat back down at the table. I took a bite of my turkey-ham-cheese-jelly-and-peanut butter sandwich. Everyone had started at me like I was a freak, other than Axel, who had happened to like the same exact thing. We had laughed over it before falling into an awkward silence. I still couldn’t figure out why the drummer seemed so reserved but so interested.

“So Axel. Is drumming like your universe?” I asked, trying to spark a conversation. He glanced up.

“It was.” He flushed right as the words came out of his mouth.

“I mean yeah it is!” he coughed nervously. I giggled.

“PARTY!” Puff randomly shouted. We all slowly turned and looked at him. He shrunk back and nibbled on his sandwich.

“We can go skiing after this right?” Shay asked for the millionth time. I glanced at Sarah Catherine, who rolled her eyes.

“Yes Shay. Be patient will you?” Shay took a bite of her sandwich.

“I bet you won’t even get on the skis Shay!” Dee Jay joked. She glared at him and swallowed the bite she just took.

“I will too!” She retorted. He grinned.

“You are a wimp Shay. There’s no point in denying it.” Axel agreed.

“I will too! I’ll prove it by going skiing gosh d****t!” she spat. We all laughed and resumed to our lunch.

            Soon we were all fed and back on the beach. Sarah Catherine and Benatar had gone over to the boat to get ready for skiing. I swam around, getting accustomed to the temperature of the water.

            “So, how well do you know Sarah Catherine?” Someone behind me asked. I jumped and whirled around. Axel was floating behind me, a slight blush creeping up his neck.

            “You scared me!” I blurted, not even remotely sure why I just said that.

            “Sorry! That wasn’t supposed to happen.” He blushed harder. I laughed.

            “It’s no problem really. Sarah Catherine and I have been friends since we were very young. When she moved down toSouth Carolinafor a few years, we bonded pretty well and became really good friends. Then she moved back toCaliforniawhen we were ten. Since then I’ve only seen her around the summer time, until we both started high school and our schedules got extremely busy. This is the first I’ve seen her in…three years maybe?” He gaped.

            “Wow.” I nodded.

            “How long have you known her?”

            “Since the first grade I think. All of us had the same classes together.” He answered. I nodded.

            “She seems especially close to Benatar.”

            “Yeah. They’re best friends. I don’t even think you can separate those two.” He muttered. I giggled.
