(This is a really short chapter. Only because it's an intro)
~Chapter One
My eyes darted awake and immediately searched the room for light. Once I realized I was in pitch darkness, I turned the lamp on my nightstand on and tried to calm myself down, taking five long deep breaths, closing my eyes and counting to ten to open them again.
I must have screamed out here in the real world as well, because my neighbor started pounding on my apartment door.
“Abigaill?” She said through the door. I quick put on a black robe and went to the door, unlocked it and opened it to see Ms. Rojer’s hair up in curlers, along with zero makeup on.
“Dear! Are you alright?” She said, a small hint of panic in her voice. While trying to find my own voice, I nodded, and then finally coughed out some words,
“Sorry…” I paused, “Really bad dream,” I smiled slightly and rubbed the back of my neck, a little embarrassed. She sighed out and relaxed a little,
“You gave me such a scare!” She blurted out quickly in a jumbled mess in her cheap country accent.
“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to wake or disturb you,” I apologized. She patted my shoulder and gave me a sly little smile,
“Just remember – it was only a dream.” She looked into my apartment a little then went back to her room.
I closed the door tightly and locked, then mumbled out,
“Just a dream… Right! More like my second reality…” That was a fact – I have never had a dream just as a dream – they would all come true (even the worst of them), and this one, well, it’s been haunting me for the past ten years. I have zero intention of finding out when it was going to happen.
