I know of a world which is very similar, yet quite different to our own in which the people are capable of much more and lead lives very different to our own. It is a world with very little technology, and yet, the people there can lead very carefree lives. “How is that?” You may ask. Well, the people of this particular world are capable of harnessing a very special power. Long ago when their planet was created, vast amounts of energy where locked away for millenia in the crust of the planet. This energy was then compressed, baked and matured in the planet's crust, turning it into a very special form of energy. Then one day a mighty earthquake caused the opening of eight large cracks in the crust and the energy spilled out into the atmosphere. Some of this energy combined with matter and caused the development of life on the planet, some stayed in the crust and grew to become plant-life and a large quantity remained free to flow around everything.
For the first few hundred years, the people of the planet had no knowledge about the existence of this energy. They settled around the cracks in the planet and eventually, eight civilizations developed around the cracks. Each developed their own culture and each developed their own language. These civilizations eventually came into contact with each other and were peaceful towards each other. Due to the limited supply of energy in the atmosphere necessary for life, very few children were born, this was okay however as the people of this world had life-spans which were five times that of the humans of planet Earth.
These civilizations eventually learned of the value of trade with the neighbouring nations, and roads were carved around the landscape linking the eight great cities to each other. Due to trade each of the eight cities began to look more and more like it's neighbours until differences were almost indistinguishable. The leading parties of the eight great cities also combined each of the cities own languages into a single uniform language which would be universally understood by all and implemented the teachings of it into everyday society.
It was around this great time that a man, Jezo, from far eastern city of Kama-cho discovered ways to manipulate the energy present in the atmosphere. The techniques involved using the mind in conjunction with body movements to draw the energy in and convert it into other forms. Jezo had founded the base principles of all energy manipulation, the forms of fire, water, wind and lightning. He decided to name these techniques Tai-nin, and before long people from all cities began to practice these forms and found uses for them in their everyday lives. Jezo passed his teachings of Tai-nin to his son, Kirimo, who was considered particularly proficient in them. At the age of 120 (which was quite young by the standards of these people) Kirimo then proceeded to single-handedly defeated the ruling council of Kama-cho, slaughtering them and crowning himself Kama-lord, founding a legacy that would continue for many generations.
The neighbouring cities grew suspicious of the actions of the Kama-lord Kirimo and thus the leaders of the cities founded the 'Great Coalition'. Quite similar to the 'United Nations' of our world, the council would focus only on decisions for which the entire world would be accountable for. Due to the fear of the Kama-lord however, no case was made against him.
Kirimo later gave birth to a son, Axelon, whom was said to be even more talented than his father at Tai-nin. Kama-lord Kirimo and his wife then died eighty years later. Axelon was crowned Kama-lord at the age of eighty, becoming the youngest Kama-lord in history. Axelon instigated his rule by ordering the development of the first true military system seen on the planet.Axelon used propaganda within the city to recruit approximately two thousand soldiers, all were severely patriotic and trained in the use of offensive Tai-nin.
The Great Coalition grew all the more anxious of the new Kama-lord's system and followed suit in the system, fearing hostility they set up their own barracks but were unable to recruit more than five hundred soldiers each. Furthermore cities saw a slow yet noticeable decline in their population. People continued to suddenly die with no explanation, the young and elderly were the most affected. After a year of perplexity, a man from the western city Naka-zao by the name of Gaitatsu, made breakthroughs on the form of energy in the atmosphere and concluded that the current form of Tai-nin was causing the mysterious deaths. The people needed the energy in the atmosphere to flow through their bodies in order to live, the energy would then be expelled through the body at a sustainable rate. But Tai-nin moves did what was thought to be impossible, more energy was drawn into the body than necessary and some was even destroyed. The lack of energy in the atmosphere meant that less was available to flow through people's bodies, and thus they died. Gaitatsu also invented a new form of Tai-nin using slightly different methods which was just as powerful as the previous form of Tai-nin but released a small amount of energy when used. Gaitatsu presented his findings to the ruling council of Naka-zao, who in turn took the matter to the Great Coalition.
