-----------------------------------------------

My name is Samantha. Samantha Williams. Most people just call me Sam though. I never really was the type of girl that spoke up. I didn't tell others how I felt, which song I wanted to listen to, heck I didn't even tell my own parents what I wanted for dinner. But that all changed over the course of 3 months.

"Sam! Get up! You'll be late!" My mom shouted from downstairs. I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to go to school early this morning to help set up for the Juniors' bake sale. I groaned and rolled out of bed, not caring to make it even though the blankets had been twisted and nearly on the floor. Let's just say I kicked in my sleep. It didn't usually take me long to get ready. And considering that I had taken shower the night before, all I really needed to do was fix my hair, brush my teeth, and throw on some fresh clothes. I looked at myself in the mirror. My normally straight light brown hair was in a mess of knots. It must have been because I slept with my head under the pillow last night. Thank goodness for de-tangler spray.

I went into my personal bathroom and started brushing my teeth. With a younger sister who was a complete beauty queen, I was pretty thankful that I had my own bathroom. After that I dug through my closet, grabbing my favorite hoodie, and a tie dye tee. I then opened my drawer and grabbed a pair of light wash skinny jeans. I threw on my converse and ran downstairs, grabbing my school bag and car keys before heading out the door.

It didn't take but 3 minutes to get to school. And as soon as I got there, the other Juniors were nearly done setting up. Someone came running towards me. I recognized him immediately. My childhood friend, Blake. "Hey Sam, what took you so long?" His short, dark brown hair was all wet and his eyes were more blue than ever. "Overslept. What's up with the wet hair?" He grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. "Same. I tried taking a quick shower." And he wondered what took me so long? I rolled my eyes.

Blake put his arm around my shoulder and led me over to the group. An assortment of delicious looking baked goods were spread out on the table. Some chocolate chip cookies here, and banana walnut muffins there... Just like any other bake sale. Today was going to be..well, boring.

It was 7:05 and the first bell wouldn't ring until 7:15. And since everything was ready for the bake sale and we didn't have to go until B lunch, I figured I had some time to spare. I went to the girls' room and took a small makeup bag from my school bag. I didn't normally wear makeup but today I felt like putting some on.Just a bit of mascara, eye liner that wasn't too heavy, and of course, some lip gloss. After I walked out of the restroom, I immediately bumped into someone, causing me to fall down on my bum.

"Ouch.." I looked up to see who had knocked me down. It was an unfamiliar face. "Sorry..." He reached down and took my hand, pulling me up. I looked at him in awe. He had perfect blonde hair that shaped his face but wasn't too long. His eyes were a light shade of green, with a few brown dots around his pupils, just like mine. He had a perfectly shaped nosed and looked like he had a nice build. "Oh... Uh..." He raised an eyebrow at me, waiting for me to say something. "It's alright.." I smiled slightly. He smiled back. "I'm Brandon." Brandon.... I liked that name... "I'm Samantha. Call me Sam.." He looked me over. "It's nice to meet you Sam.. I think I'll be on my way now." And just like that, he walked off.

It didn't take long for me to find Blake again. He looked at me in awe, and rubbed his eyes. "Are you..wearing..makeup..?!" I rolled my eyes and nodded. "You actually look like a girl!" I gave him a funny look. Had I seemed like a man before? "I mean you looked like a girl before, and you perfectly fine without it, but isn't half bad on you." He smiled and we walked to out next class together.

Before I knew it, B lunch came around. Blake and I were in charge of the cash. Misty, a petite blonde with a peppy attitude, was in charge of resupplying the baked goods. And finally, Jeremy and Mariah were the ones in charge of taking care of customers. We sat for awhile and waited for the Freshmen and Sophomores to finish their lunches and then the fun began. Blake had been poking me nearly the whole time, not helping me count money at all.

"Hey sis." A familiar voice called. I looked up. Addison, my younger sister stood before me, her arms crossed and blue eyes on me. Her wavy dark brown hair seemed to be perfect. "Well, are you going to ignore me or what? At least stop staring! Jeez..." I shook my head. She may have the looks, but her attitude needed improvement...

"Whatever." Addison huffed and looked at Blake. "Hey Blake!" It was nasty, but she had liked him since we were little. And it creeped him out. She could have any guy, but yet still tries to get Blake.

"Hi Addison..." Blake scooted closer to me, and put his arm around my shoulder. It always made Addison mad. "Um.." She rolled her eyes. "Bye." She turned swiftly on her heels and walked off.

The bell rang. Time for our lunch, C lunch. I dragged Blake up from his seat and to the lunch line. Today was chicken fries. I stood quietly in line, holding onto Blake's wrist. He was the one to break the silence.

"Hey, have you heard? We got a new kid, Brandon or something." I nodded, thinking back to this morning. "I've met him. Well, briefly." Blake nudged me and winked. "He can't be better looking then me, right?"

I laughed softly and swatted at his chest. We didn't have to wait much longer in line. I got chicken fries and a salad. Blake got extra chicken fries, macaroni, and a cookie. How he was still skinny, no one knows.

We sat down at our normal lunch table, which consisted of Misty, Jeremy, and Mariah. Jeremy and Mariah were already arguing, as normal. I rolled my eyes. Lover's quarrel. Blake elbowed me, causing me to jump. "Settle down," he said, "look, it's the new kid." There stood Brandon, holding a water bottle. "Can I sit here?"
