Chap. 18: BLOOD RUNS DEEP
"No need to fear, child," the demon stated, a wicked grin on his lips. "I won't hurt you. Well, yet anyway."
"Try not ever," April stated.
The demon managed to get a confused look in her direction, before her foot collided with his face, sending sprawling to the floor, with unexpected force. He instantly stood and scowled at her. "Luckily, we only need the prince's human alive. I can kill you."
April smirked at the demon to let him know exactly how intimidated she wasn't. "I'd like to see you try."
The demon suddenly ad a sword in his hand, as if he had summoned it from the shadows. He thrust the sword down, towards April, who moved to the side, and struck him in the face once the sword was low enough. The demon reared his sword back around, which she ducked under to get a bone-snapping blow to his knee, which caused him to fall forward with a scream of pain, and drop his weapon. The blade of the sword retreated into the hilt upon contact with the ground. April brought her foot around, striking him in the side of the head, and knocking him unconscious.
Kelly looked, quizzically, from the motionless man, to her friend, and back again, before finding the right words that wouldn't over, nor under, dramatize the situation. "What the fuck just happened?" she finally managed to choke out.
"I'll explain it to you in a minute, but right now, we need an armchair, and some duct tape. He could wake up any second," April said. With a nod, Kelly went to procure the objects asked of her.
"Hello, Markus," Thailus greeted his guest upon approach. "Enjoying the appetizers?"
The man he had spoken to smiled at him. "Thailus, how wonderful to see you again. Yes, they're great delicacies."
"The joy of having servants, I suppose."
"Of course. So, where are your boys? I haven't seen them since I arrived."
"Ah, teenagers now o' days, they disappear whenever they choose. There's Darrious."
Markus turned, follow his gesture with his eyes, to see Darrious and Laura enter the ballroom. "He has a spectacular woman." He returned his gaze to Thailus. "I never did understand why the other one was so drawn to human women."
"Something I don't understand, either, and he's my son. So, anyway, how's the middle east treating you?"
"Very well, actually. A bit different than America, but-" he paused, staring out the window that made up the entire outside wall. "What in the hell is that?"
Thailus turned to see a large creature with gray skin charging towards the house. The guards must've noticed it, as well, because a bullets began to spray the beast, with no avail at even slowing him down.
Suddenly, the creature busted through the window and stopped, looking over the guests of the party, most of which were ready to fight and defend their king, even die, if necessary. Once it locked eyes with Thailus, it ran through the crowd, throwing the vampires as if they weighed nothing. Thailus bared his fangs at hissed at the creature as it approached.
"Wake the fuck up," April ordered, slapping the demon a couple times in the face, until it eventually began to stir. Once it's eyes were open, and he was able to recollect what had happened, he tried pulling against the duct tape, which served as restraints.
"You better untie me," he warned.
"And if I don't?" April tested, crossing her arms.
"I'll kill you, plain and simple," he threatened.
"Right." She turned her attention to Kelly. "Kelly, knife please?" she asked, holding out her hand.
"I wanna do it," she said, producing a kitchen knife from her back pocket.
"Just like I told you," she said. Kelly responded with a nod, and April returned her attention to the demon. "Now, I take it you know what I am?"
The demon smiled. "Which one, whore, or crack baby?"
April sighed and nodded to Kelly, who stabbed the blade into his hand and pulled it out instantly, his skin healing the second the blade was removed.
"You see," April began, "by instantly pulling the blade out, you only lose a minimal amount of blood, and heal instantly, which means it'll take a few days of torture for you to finally bleed to death. Which means we have plenty of time for you to tell us what we wanna know."
"Well, I can tell you which one of you're mothers I'll rape, first, after I get out of these bindings." He looked at Kelly. "I think I'll start with yours." He returned his gaze to April. "And I think your little brother will be the first one I kill."
