The door bell rang. Jack didn't move. It rang again. Still he did not move. Pain sat next to him watching the hundredth news broad cast on the tragic accident. She looked at him, and reatched out to touch him. when her finger tips touched his temple he did nothing but get a slight chill through his spine.
"ohhh," she said pouting "ok I guess your ready for Sorrow." Pain stood and was gone.
An empty void came over Jack he clung tightly to his stomach. The feeling that his internal organs were going to make a guest appearance was back.
Sorrow walked through the front door "you know you have a basket of muffins at your door right?" He said Jack gave no response. "ya know sometimes I get kind of tired of being ignored, but that just come with the job." Sorrow paused "you wouldn't mind if I had one of those muffins would you? Of course you wouldn't your terribly Sorrowful right now arn't you? But I guess that is what I'm here for huh."
Sorrow reached his arm through the door, grabbing a muffing and taking a bite. "mmm Blueberry. You know I hear that the girl next door who made these is single, you might consider.... I don't know asking her out, maybe it'll help you get over your little... what was her name again Lizzy? yeah I think that was it.... oh look at me I'm rambling over here... and your over there.... trying to keep your guts in."
Sorrow stood and walked over to Jack. "there there, go over to that nice girls house and vent some of your sorrow to her, I know she'll listen."
Jacks stomach stopped turning and he walked over to the door and opened it. A basket of muffins sat on his door step "Beckie." Jack sighed. He looked to his neighbors house. The two had lived next door to each other for years, and they had always been there for each other during their hardest times. This time though she wasn't going to be able to help him.
He slowly closed the door. "No!" Said Sorrow "go over there!"
Jack paused just in time for Beckie to open her door and get the paper. She looked at his house and waved when she saw him, he hesitated.
"oh for the sake of all that is good! Go!" Yelled Sorrow.
So Jack left the security of his house and crossed the street. Beckie was waiting for him at her front door with open arms. He hugged her and she invited him in for dinner.
He spent the next two weeks practically living at her house. The two cried together and shared pictures of their friends.
Sorrow watched the whole thing. Jack got back into his normal routine, went to work and saw his parents every week. He was getting better. Until a week before the one year anniversary of the accident.
Jack once again began to get into his old habit of mourning his lost loves. "Ok this is above my pay grade." Said Sorrow "oh Remorse."
