Twister - Short Story

     Hi! AHN here! I've done some major reconstruction, and this is now the first part. Thanks to all my fans from the beginning! Fans, votes, and comments are appreciated so much. Thanks a lot! 

     "Darling, your father and I are going out grocery shopping. You staying?" My mother questioned from outside our rickety trailer. I nodded, signaling them to leave with out me. "There will be some storms, is that ok?" She was such a worried mother. 

"Yeah Mom, it's Michigan we're talking about. I've seen the good and the bad." I said with a egoistic smirk, causing her to chuckle. 

"Fine. Be good." With a slam of the car door and a rev of her engine, her and my dad were off. 

     Hmm, I'm home alone once again, and I can do whatever I want... I thought to myself. Then it struck me. I snatched a can of Pringles, and plopped on the couch, changing the channel to "Britian's Got Talent" on our 16 inch television. 

The lighting flashed in the distance, followed by quick roars of raging thunder. I could tell by just how far apart the lightning and thunder were that the storm was not too far out. 

     The floor grumbled once in a while, shaking our poor trailer. I pretended not to notice, trying to be brave for myself. 

     Cracks of lightning struck the telephone pole outside, causing my power to surge. I was concerned and starting to panic. But I wasn't going to call my mom just yet. I am used to this weather... I tried convincing myself over and over. Truth is, we only get an angry thunderstorm once every two to three months. I wasn't as used to it as I convinced myself I was. 

     It's not even scary. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. You are safe inside this trailer. I lied to myself through clenched teeth. I had everything to worry about. I was terrified. I was certainly NOT safe inside this trailer made out of wood and siding. I clicked on the Weather Channel to hear professional information.
