2 - Oopsy Daisy

"What are you doing with Nick's project?"

I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms at him. "Why do you even care?" I asked, walking over to my desk where I sat on top of it. Swinging my legs, I watched at how he casually leaned on the door frame. He actually laughed in a creepy way, and I held the gun protectively on my lap. He ran a finger through his hair, which did nothing but waste time. I continued to glare at him, pressing my lips together to prevent myself from saying anything bad.

"You stole it, didn't you?" he asked, and I swallowed hard. In my defense, I shook my head. "It's not considered stealing when you plan on giving it back." I snapped at him, putting my index finger through the hole where the trigger is. Getting bored, I started to spin it in the air. He stepped forward in this terrified way like I'd drop the gun or something. That is actually a possibility since I'm clumsy, but it's not like the gun works or anything.

"Yeah, right. You sure you gonna give it back?" he asked, eyeing me suspiciously. I narrowed my eyes at him, and mentally thought of punching him. "I'm not a freaking thief. I'm just a girl who borrowed her brother's little science project to study. Besides, why do you care anyway? You're not the owner of this gun." I replied, jumping off the desk and storming up to him. I jabbed his chest with my other hand, and he stepped back.

Finally he shook his head and put a hand in front of me. "I think we've got on a bad start. I'm Reid." he introduced himself, smiling in a way to impress me. Rolling my eyes, I shook his hand lazily. "I'm Casey. And it's not my fault you suddenly burst in my room. Knock next time, because I could be doing something private in here." I replied back, and instantly he blushed. Great, a guy who blushes easily. This has got to be interesting.

I pulled back my hand and sat on my bed, tossing the gun into the air and catching it again. Reid looked a bit worried about the gun and sat down on my desk, watching me. I was annoyed by how he kept staring at me, and was going to demand why he was doing it when the doorbell rang. Good, Nat's here. I walked past Reid with a glare and skipped down the stairs. Naturally the guy followed me, and I made sure to scowl at him before opening the door.

Nat was in the same clothing as earlier, and instead of just walking past me, she leaned against the door frame. "So, where's the failure scientist?" my best friend asked, meaning my brother. I shrugged, dragging my feet to the living room. "Out shopping for food." I replied, as Nat shut the door for me. Reid was standing right there on the staircase and the moment Nat caught his eyes, she grabbed my arm and pulled me into the kitchen.

She looked at me, crossing her arms. "Is your house some kind of nerd magnet? First, it was your dad, then your mom, then your brother and now that guy. I'm worried for you, Case." she muttered, pursing her lips at me. I laughed at how true that certainly was, and reassuringly patted her shoulder as I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. I opened the cap, and gulped down the cool liquid that refreshed me instantly. I wiped my wet lips with the back of my hand and turned back to Nat.

"I am not a nerd, believe me. Never been, never will. Now, let's go upstairs. The gun's in my room." I told her, smiling as we linked arms and walked briskly up the staircase. She looked at me with a confused look, but it slowly transformed into one of pure joy once she registered my words into her head. "Oh my god, you actually stole the gun?" she asked, and when I nodded, she smiled with approval. "Nice. I'm so proud my little C has finally grown up."

I lighted punched her shoulder as we entered my room. Let's just say I was particularly shocked to see Reid searching through my stuff, and all my books and papers were all over the place. Both Nat and I gasped, causing him to drop my sketchpad that was in his hands and he flipped around. I glared at him, and I saw his cheeks turn red again. He put his hands up in defence, like he'd been caught by the police, and looked all around the room. "This isn't what it looks like."
