I saw a colourful snake today
A soul of happy words
Created by the people
It symbolised what makes them smileThe snake asked me, so politely
'What makes you happy?
See all the words on my glistening scales-
They're the positivity of all'And I stood and I watched
As the words swirled on its skin
Thinking about what I could add
To a library of optimismBut only one thing seemed worth it
One happy piece of me to tell that snake
So I wrote upon his scales in grey
One word that made me smileSometimes we get caught up
In negativity and pain
Lost in doubt and misdirection
We forget to smileBut I thanked the colourful snake
As it slithered away
For life isn't easy or nice or kind
But people areThat snake made me pause
Made me think and reflect
And today I was happy
Because I took that time to write one wordIt's a strange story- a colourful snake!
But I tell you because it matters, happiness matters
And because you should know
You're my one word I wrote
