Chapter Twenty-Seven

I stayed awake most of the night because I was trying to figure out the best rout of what to do; calling it off would definitely be the best thing to do even though that would suck. It was early morning before I finally fell asleep to have Aiden waking me up five hours later.

"Good morning sleeping beauty." He kissed my forehead and I groaned and pushed him away so I could try to sleep a little longer.

"Go away." I complained and he chuckled

"Come on, you make the coffee and I'll make breakfast."

"You know I spend an awfully lot of time in your bed." I said to him and he smiled, shrugging his shoulders.

"Are you complaining? I'm not."

"No, it's nice having someone to sleep next to." I climbed out of his bed and grabbed his shirt off the ground as I walked toward the kitchen.

"So how are you feeling about our agreement today?" he asked as he made breakfast and I poured some coffee I was about to tell him that we should stop it when there was a knock at the door.

"Saved by the door." He shook his head and as I walked to the door when the knocking got more urgent he wrapped his arms around me to whisper in my ear.

"For what it's worth I don't mind where things are headed." And he was gone. I rushed to the door not even paying attention to the clothes I was in.

"Hell-" I stopped looking in the too perfect blonde hair and green eyes of the woman in front of me.

"Who the hell are you?" she asked and I crossed my arms a little self-conscious of my attire

"What are you doing here?" I asked her

"Why are you at my fiancés apartment?" she asked back

"Ex-fiancé." I automatically corrected "And I live here." She clenched her jaw at that statement

"So you're the new whore." She said trying to get me angry, too bas sunshine.

"Your anger is amusing. What are you doing here?" I asked her

"I came to see Aiden."

"He doesn't want to see you."

"And how would you know that?" she asked me and I shrugged

"Because you're the bitch that hurt him; you left." I pointed out

"And you're the rebound slut that's screwing him. He doesn't love you sweetheart, stop trying." I smirked

"And the sex is mind blowing."

"You are nothing to him." she hissed, I think I hit a nerve.

"Maybe not but I've had him begging for more all night long, something you never managed to do." She was pissing me off.

"I'm not leaving until I see him." she crossed her arms

"Hey Aiden." I called out sickly sweet to annoy her more. I never liked the girl. She had everyone fooled with the wholesome sweetheart act but she would show her true colors sometimes, I never bought it.

"Yeah" she was furious when he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"She's back." I sang and I looked back to see his smile disappear and it was replaced instantly with a look of hurt and anger

"Emily." His hold tightened and I nearly winced

"Hey baby." She smiled as sweet as she could and I coughed when his grip tightened which caused him to loosen up immediately

"Sorry."

"It's alright." I went to move and he held me in place.

"Are you going to invite me in?" she asked

"No." he didn't hesitate to say

"Well then can we talk alone?" she asked eyeing me

"No." he said again and she sighed

"Aiden I miss you." she told him and I'm sure he was rolling his eyes

"You made your choices, it's done." He pulled me back into the apartment and shut the door as she protested.

"Bitch." He mumbled and I held in a laugh.

"Agreed."

"What did she say to you?" he asked and I waved my hand in dismissal, she may have gotten under my skin just a little bit.

"Oh you know, I'm your new slut and you'll never love me and I should stop trying, how I'm nothing to you. You know the things the normal ex-girlfriend says when she's all pissed off."

"You mean a great deal to me." he told me and I looked over at him

"Do I?" I asked

"You do. Breakfast is ready, I need to get to the hospital and you need to do whatever it is that you do." he pushed a plate in my direction, I jumped up on the island

"Thank you." I took a bite

"I can't believe the nerve of that bitch, calling me baby?" and here we go. He was rightfully angry and I would let him rant all he wanted

"I know." I told him.

"She fucking left me, I gave her almost nine years of my life, nine years we were together! I proposed and gave her everything and then she just left me! I owe her nothing." He said

"You're right. She's the one who made the decision, and you owe her nothing."

"You know, I was hurt by what she did."

"And it hurt you to see her again." I added and he nodded

"Damn right it did." He looked at his watch and sighed

"I have to go to work, can you do dishes?" he asked and I nodded

"Of course."

"Thank you." he rushed to his room to change and then came back in the kitchen in his scrubs with contacts in instead of glasses.

"Have a good day." I told him and he pulled me against him and kissed me hard.

"How about you come meet me at work on your way to work, I'll take my lunch." He ran a hand down my side and I nodded

"I'll meet you there at five."

"Late day for work?" he asked and I nodded

"Five it is then, I'll text you if anything comes up."

"Alright." He left a lingering kiss and left. There was a part of me that hoped that maybe this could be something more but with Emily back now those chances were less likely.
