THis story took a lot of setting up, more than it shows. The first thing I had to do, was look at how a stained glass was made. THen I looked for the meaning of different colors and different colors of roses. THen there was the actual story set-up. I went to my dad for some help on this, so I give him half the credit for the making of Asunderland.
If you go to Genesis 28, you'll find the origin of the stained glass. Here, Jacob's ladder is mentioned--the place where angels go up and down out of heaven. It's like the gate to another dimension, so to speak. And the Rock that Jacob used for a pillow--perfect place to start. We made the stone the "key" to the gate, and from there, it was pretty simple. Brimstone was rained down on Sodom and Gomorrah, and that's why we made this pillar Brimstone(sulfur, whatever). And Sulfur makes the color blue in the staining of glass. And a blue rose stands for intangibility or impossibility. Go to revelation, and you'll find the place where "They will seek death, but they will not find it." and "Their cries of agony will go on forever and ever." haha. I just love how everything fits together so perfectly.
This story I cam up with from one of my favorite song from the NIS album by Switchfoot, called Golden. So meaningful. ^-^ And then I based Jonathan off of The Crooked Man nursery rhyme. And the basic story is quite wonderland-esque, if you imagine Adele like Alice. xD and Jonathan like the Mad Hatter.
Believ me--harder to write than it looks. It took a whole lot of thinking and research. NOw that you know a little more about Asunderland...you happy? =)
