Alone or Not

spinner.gif
Alone I sit by the sea
There I wait for my love
My love that never shall I see
For tis not me he returns to
He returns to lady fair
Not to one as dark as me
It is not Mistress Mary he seeks
It is not his church sister he seeks
It is an Irish lass who cooks and cleans
She may be considered far homelier than me
But for sooth he cannot see
That there is a blessing in me
That I shall give him what part of my heart not given to God above
To him I shall be a good mother to what children God blesses us with
To him I shall remain constant and true
I shall honor and obey as good wives do
But what I hold encased in my heart
What promises are in me
He is blind to them
Blind to it all is he
For I am Little Brat Little Sister
Never to be Little Wife Little Mother
So alone do I sit by the sea
There to wait for my love to comfort me
But I hear the persistent chimes of wedding
Of his fair maidens wedding
Of his wedding
So alone I stand
Alone I walk
Alone I chill
Alone I feel the waves the rain
And finally alone I fall sick
And alone I die with his name on my lips
But I walk not alone on my journey
Loe I remember I was never alone
God was with me
God kept me strong when my heart was broken
And God allowed me to suffer no longer
God heard my plea
God comforted me as I shivered
So not alone do I walk to heaven
Not alone am I any longer
