Dedicated to the incredible ReadAlot101 aka Tash, who's the sister of my real life BFF. Happy Birthday Tasha xx
Erin Hudson was gripping onto her seat for dear life as her older brother Finn pulled into the parking lot of William McKinley High. She felt her stomach knot up in fear and she squeezed her eyes shut, hoping that if she couldn't see anything, that it would all just go away.
"Erin? Erin? Eeeeerin?"
Erin slowly cracked open one eye to see Finn still sitting in the driver's seat beside her; his backpack resting on his lap. She opened the other eye and made a 'what?' gesture with her hands.
"Are you coming?" He asked, removing the keys from the ignition.
She shook her head making her long, ebony hair whip around her face and shoulders. "Nope I'm staying right here."
Finn raised at eyebrow at his sister. "Why?"
"Because I've changed my mind. I'm not ready for High School yet, it's too big and too scary. So I'm gonna go back to middle school for another year and start High School when I'm ready."
"Er Bear it's not that scary, it's all in your head." Finn chuckled, tapping Erin on the top of her head.
She gave him a look and swatted his hand away . "Yes it is...And don't call me Er Bear in public. It's embarrassing."
Finn rolled his eyes and jumped out of the truck. He slung his backpack onto his right shoulder, then turned back to Erin.
"So are you coming or are you going to sit there all day?"
"Sit here all day." She answered pulling her knees up to chest. "I've got my iPod and a book so it's not like I'll get bored."
Finn sighed and swung his door shut. Erin watched him as he came around to her side and her brown eyes rounded when she realised what he was up to. He opened Erin's door and wrapped on arm around her waist and the other around her knees.
"No! No! No! No! Finn! No! Don't! Please!" She shrieked, as he lifted her up and threw her over his shoulder.
Finn smirked to himself while Erin continued to kick and squeal over his shoulder. He pushed her door closed and locked it, before setting her on her feet. She folded her arms across her chest and pouted at him. Finn just chuckled. He couldn't help it; she looked just like a toddler after they've had their favourite toy taken away. Well minus the crying, the stamping and the hurling of anything they can get their hands on.
"I have two words for you my brother." She lifted her right arm and stuck out her thumb. "You and suck." She stuck out her index finger as well and wiggled them around.
"Whatever you say little sister, but I know you love me. Now get moving or we'll be late."
Erin kept her feet firmly planted on the ground as Finn started walking towards the multi-story building in front of them. When he didn't hear any footsteps following him, Finn turned around and he sighed before going over to Erin and grasping both of her shoulders.
"Come on; left foot, right foot, left foot." He encouraged, nudging her forward gently.
"Okay! Okay! I'm going. Get off." She muttered, wiggling out of his grasp.
As the two of them crossed the parking lot, Erin cast her eyes around her surroundings. As she'd assumed, she saw things that you would normally expect to see at a High School. Students laughing and showing off new clothes, cheerleaders gossiping to one another while a group of freshman boys practically drooled over them.
But something that Erin did not expect to see, or wanted to see; was a group of Jocks tossing a poor, helpless guy into a filthy, blue dumpster. She waited for a teacher or somebody else to swoop in and help the boy out; but to her surprise, nobody showed up.
Instead, the jock straps proceeded to high five each other while their roars of mocking laughter echoed across the grounds. Erin was horrified, did anyone but her care that somebody got thrown into the trash like they were last night's leftovers and nobody seemed to give a shit about it?
She shook her head and pushed those thoughts aside as Finn held the door open for her and she stepped inside.
"See it's just a High School. There's kids and teachers and lockers, but there's nothing to be scared about....Well unless you count the food in the cafeteria; if you can even call it food." Finn said, a grossed out look crossing his face.
Erin laughed and adjusted her backpack as she took in everything around her. Finn could see that she still looked nervous, so he bumped her shoulder lightly with his arm and she tilted her head up to look at him.
"Hey, don't worry I'm going to be right here with you."
A massive smile spread across Erin's face and she felt herself ease up a little.
"Thanks Finn."
"Don't worry about it. You're my sister and I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure that -" "FINN!"
The shrill voice rang throughout the halls and Erin suppressed the urge to let out a very loud groan. An attractive blonde in a red and white cheerleading uniform was standing in the middle of the hall with her hands on her hips and her left foot tapping impatiently. Her name was Quinn Fabray and she was the resident Queen Bee and Head Cheerleader of McKinley...she also happened to be Finn's girlfriend, much to Erin's distaste.
"Later Erin," Finn said quickly before hurrying over to the blonde and planting a kiss on her lips.
Erin let out a disappointed sigh while Finn and Quinn linked fingers and disappeared into the sea of students.
"So much for being there for me Finn." She whispered to herself.
