The shop was busy, full of people who were now relaxed and calm. They was back to how they was yesterday, talkative and happy. Laughing over everything and making sure that it was contagious. At one point I even saw Blake smile at a customer. I kept taking sneaky glances at Blake which really did fail, but he was looking at me too. I'd look at him and he'd catch me, he'd look at me and I'd catch him. I really did want to speak to him but I was afraid, my arm hurt from where he held on tight so what if Felix comes back in again? The best thing I could do was stay away from him, I was surprised Phil didn't come and get him off me. Speaking of Felix, he hasn't come back yet. There was something about him that made me fear him but there was also something about him that made me want to know more about him, made me want to stay with him and be his friend if not more.
"Daniela, watch it!" Blake called out snapping me back to reality where the coffee was overfilling and poured onto my hand. Thanks to the human body and the reflex actions, I let go of the cup and stumbled back holding my burnt hand. The cup of course smashed onto the ground and every either jumped or gasped. Blake ran to the coffee machine and pulled the lever up then ran to me holding out his hand staring at mine.
"I'm fine" I lied and he just grabbed my arm, making my hand visible to him. "It's just a burn" I shrugged, "Sorry for the mess" If anything, I was worried about getting fired.
"Just a burn? Yeah well burns need to be treated as well" He said it as if I was stupid which I obviously wasn't. He dragged me to a sink and flicked the cold water on, shoving my hand under it and keeping it there.
"I can do it myself you know" I frowned, agitated by him.
"I'm just helping you, staff help each other around here. You get hurt, I fix 'ya" He sighed looking into my eyes.
"So is Alice going to kick your ass for these bruises you're making on my arm?" I felt confident and I sure as hell showed it. He dropped his gaze and stared at my hand.
"Uh, what was you thinking about back there?" He asked changing the subject and making it completely obvious which meant Alice would probably kick his ass. I'd gladly watch too. "You just, blanked out" He looked at me again but shyly.
"How unwelcome you made me feel" I huffed which sounded and probably looked stupid. I heard faint footsteps and cocked my head to the side to see Phil standing there with his arms across his chest frowning. "I'll pay for that" I whispered and his expression became more relaxed, he shook his head and walked over cleaning up the broken glass.
"As long as you're okay. Can you still work?" He asked looking at my hand. Honestly, it hurt a lot but I really did need the money especially if I wanted to keep that place at the hotel. I only had a week there so far.
"Yes, I'm fine. It's only a burn. Sorry about the cup" I sighed watching it being tipped into the bin. "It won't happen again"
"I hope not either, don't want you getting hurt now do we?" He smiled and Blake let go of my hand slowly. "Ah, thank you Blake. Wrap it up in a bandage, don't want to put our customers off if you have an infection" He chuckled and I pulled a face. Oh I so hope it doesn't blister, Iv'e only been here for two days and Iv'e already hurt myself.
I felt something light push down on my hand and when I looked up, Blake was there wrapping it up gently. It was strange, he had a gentle, soft look in his eyes now. He was completely different from when Felix was here.
"You okay? I'm not hurting you am I?" He whispered softly and I shook my head smiling. I probably looked like a goon but I couldn't help it, I liked this side to Blake. "You're smiling, that's a good sign, scary but good" He chuckled quickly resting my arm to my side and looking me in the eyes. "You up for working still or you gonna bunk?" He smirked, he knew I wasn't the kind of girl that bunked. A complete stranger would know because I can't really keep my own secrets. Plus, my eyes tell all which is unfortunate.
"Maybe I should go on the till for a while" I chuckled and he nodded walking to the coffee machine, I stepped up to the till and looked out the window to see Alice skipping along. She looked...Strange. She was wearing some kind of Alice In Wonderland dress which because of her name, was kind of ironic. She had pigtails though which reached her shoulders. She couldn't stop smiling either which made me think that she had something wrong with her.
