Hi, I know these things are irritating but I’d really like it if you guys could:
>><< Prologue >><<
"Scar? Scar! Wake up, sis! Please! C'mon Scar..." the fourteen year old boy was a the verge of sobbing, I was standing in the shadows watching him as he shook the young girl, probably around the age of five or six.
Guilt was something I haven't felt in a few centuries, but now when I looked at that girl, with her obsidian hair and delicate features, a pang trickled through me now as I watched the boy sob.
I stepped from the shadows, making myself visible in the light.
"What happened?" my voice was soft, but the boy's head snapped up.
"Are you one of them?" he looked fear stricken, but his voice was steady.
"One of who?" knowing full well who he was talking about.
"The monsters that attacked Sc-Scar," his courage was wavering but he was clinging on to it, like it was a lifeline, just like he was clinging to the young girl.
"You are, aren't you?" Damn.
"Yes, but I will not bring any harm to you or her."
"Will you help my sister? Please? Please help Scalette!" A small light of hope shone in his eyes.
"What will you give me in return?"
"Anything, anything. Please just save her..."
"Very well, she has lost a lot of blood so I will give her some of mine."
"What will it do?" he was smarter than he looked, more cautious than any other boy his age would be.
"It will bind her to me."
He seemed to be thinking it through. "What do you want in return then?"
"She must become my bride when she is of age, eighteen," I replied to his confused look.
"Thirteen years. I have thirteen years with her. That little..."
"Make your choice, boy."
"Make your choice, Connor. My patience is running thin."
"Okay. I'm sorry Scar, but I have to do this. I don't want to lose you," The boy, Connor placed a soft kiss on the girl's forehead, lifted her up and brought her to me. I took her softly, cradling her in my arms, gently.
"Go home now, I shall bring her to you, safe and unharmed."
"I'll go find my parents, the monsters attacked them too."
"Wait, what exactly happened?"
"They just attacked, I don't know why. Mom told me to take Scar and hide, but they faster... They were already in her room and Dad was on his way there. He was just in time before they killed her... When Dad had him distracted, I took Scar and ran..." he trailed off.
"Thank you. I will see you later. I will bring Scar to your home."
"Thank you. What is your name?"
I waited for Connor to leave before I jumped up to the top of the builing, which had cast the shadows I had hidden in, and sat down. The moon's white light made Scarlette look like a porcelain doll, with her fine features. Her midnight black hair looked like the smoothest and softest silk.
I bit into my wrist and opened her mouth to let the blood flow into her small mouth. Her body responded by swallowing slowly. A tingle spread through me as her lips closed over the wound and she started drinking softly. Her eyes started to flutter open and revealed the deepest blue with ocean green and hazel streaks.
She was so innocent. Why did she have to be exposed to my world? She pulled away from me.
"Who are you?" her voice sounded like that of an angel or how I would imagine it to be.
"That's a pretty name," she yawned lightly.
"Scarlette. Your mine now," a slight hint of possesiveness entered my voice.
"Why?" her innocence shone through every pore.
"Because I fed you my blood."
"Why did you do that?"
I'll give it to her she was intelligent for a five year old.
"You were dying and I couldn't have that happen, now could I?"
"I don't want to die."
"Your not, baby."
"No need to thank me baby, you are going to repay me later on. Rest now."
Her eyes fluttered closed, her breathing steadied and she let out a content sigh. I stood and located Connor's scent. I jumped down to the street and ran to the victorian style house. I knocked and the was a scurry and Connor opened the door.
