Leap of Faith (One Direction FanFic)

"And the winner is..." I crossed my fingers hoping that I would finally be the best at something. "Jenna Marks! That means runner-up is Nessa Williams!" I put on a small smile, second place again. I guess I should introduce myself.

I'm Nessa Williams, I have blonds hair, grey eyes. I'm of average height (5'5"), and I am 17 years of age. I live in Maine with my parents and my older brother. I have two siblings, Riley and Wyatt. Wyatt is 29, lives in the next town over and is a very successful "on-the-rise" artist. Riley is 19, still lives at home and is going to school to get a degree in computer sciences. Mum owned and ran a very successful law firm and dad worked at the local hospital as a surgeon.

I would be lying if I said that we were short on money. everyone in my family was very talented, they were the best at what they did, not one person was ahead of them, everyone except me that is. Sure, I was talented, I played the piano, guitar, I danced, I sang, I wrote, I did many things...but someone was always better than me. I was always second place compared to anyone else.

"Nessa you were amazing! They totally don't know how to judge, I mean if I-" At that point I tuned my best friend Georgie out. She tended to gab on and on about things. I looked at the tall brunette, with her long legs, tan skin, and beautiful complexion. She looked like she could be a model.

"Hey bug, you were amazing." My other best friend Jake said pulling me into a hug. He always called me bug, or love bug. This was because for the longest time my favorite song had been "Love Bug" by the Jonas Brothers. Jake was very handsome, looked like Josh Hutcherson. Which was good for him because girls were all over him. But it was bad for Georgie and I because we constantly got hate from it and Jake spent less time with us.

"Obviously not amazing enough to win, as usual." I said, my voice void of any emotion. Jake shook his head but didn't say anything else on the matter.

"Where are your parents love bug? He asked looking around. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Mom had a court date and Dad's on call." I shrugged, packing up my bags.

"So, my house...movie?" I asked and the two grinned.

My house had a theatre room that even had a place for concessions. We all looked at each other and shouted "STAND BY ME!" Stand By Me was our all time favorite movie. We knew every line by heart and never got sick of it.

"Can we stay the night too Nessa?" Georgie said excitedly.

"I have to ask but probably." I giggled at her expression.

"So what's the latest on you and Aria, Jake?" I asked when we arrived at my house.

"Eh, she only wanted me for my body." I rolled my eyes and Gee blushed. She had been crushing on him since the summer of freshmen year. Jake was too clueless to notice but it was obvious to anyone who looked. Funny thing was, Jake had been crushing on Gee since his hormones kicked in but would never admit to it.

"What body? You are like a circle!" Georgie said trying to hide the fact that she was blushing.

"I have a six pack!"

"Covered by a layer of fat!!"

I ignored the two as they continued to argue. Can you believe that I had dealt with this for 12 years? We all met when we were 5. It was the first day of kindergarten, we had all been sat next to each other for lunch time and became fast friends when we decided to trade lunches. We have been inseperable ever since.

"Why does Riley always have to eat the last of the popcorn? He never replaces it!" I whined as we set up for our movie. Mom agreed to let them stay over so we had gone and gotten their things.

"We can't watch a movie without popcorn!" Jake gasped

"Nessa why don't you go and get some?" Gee gave me one of her infamous smiles. She was up to something but I couldn't figure out what it was.

"Fine, but you two better not make out while I'm gone." I winked at them dashing out the door before something was thrown at me.

I walked into the theatre room carrying the bags of snacks I had gotten at the store and was greeted with being tackled to the ground. "CONGRATULATIONS!!!!" Jake and Georgie screamed at me.

"Are you both off your rocker?! I got second place..that means that I lost." I said completely confused

"Nope, we are talking about this!" Jake handed me a letter as I sat down on one of the reclinar chairs.

"We are pleased to inform you that we have chosen your song to be the new single for One Direction." I scrunched my eyebrows. "What is this?" I looked at my two best friends.

"It means you are going to England sweetie pie!" Georgie grinned at me.

"What...how..?" I was completely flabbergasted.

"Well...you know that song you were writing...? Well, I sort of sent it in for this contest and...it won!!"

"But that song was crap...!" I was in shock.

"Love bug...you are going to work with One Direction, that means you are more than good enough!" Jake pulled me into a tight hug.
