Lawliet looked to see a familiar face scowling at him and Matt. “What are you doing with my cake, you…” he paused. “Lawli?”
“Hi, Jimmy. I’m sorry for eat-” Lawliet’s apology was cut short by a tight hug from the man in the doorframe. He was knocked backward, but didn’t fall. The man was the same height Lawliet, and that was only because Lawliet’s hair stuck up.
“Lawli, it’s been two years! I thought you were dead!” Jimmy said, still not releasing him. “Why didn’t you tell me you were alive?”
“Uh…” Lawliet said. “I can’t breathe.”
“Dude.” Matt interjected, taking an awkward step backward. “You should have told me you were taken.”
“He’s not.” Jimmy said, releasing Lawliet.
“Oh. So you’re still available for a good fuck?” Matt asked, grinning cockily.
Lawliet’s eyes widened. “I…”
“Fuck off.” Jimmy said irritably, glaring at the red haired boy.
“Nice to meet you too, Jimmycloud.” Matt rolled his eyes. “I’m Matt.”
“I don’t care.” Jimmy seethed, putting an arm around Lawliet possessively.
“Well, Lawli, I’ll leave you and your wife to uh... Do your stuff.” Matt said, backing out of the kitchen. He chuckled at the pair and tossed Lawliet an amused look before finally leaving.
Lawliet looked at Jimmy, slightly frustrated, as Matt left. “What was that all about, Jimmy?” he asked calmly.
“That was about me not liking him.” Jimmy replied, jamming his hands in his pockets.
Lawliet shook his head. “There was nothing that he did wrong.”
“He ate my cake.”
Though Jimmy and Lawliet couldn’t see or hear Matt, he was just outside the doorframe, snickering. Matt knew that Jimmy would be fun to wind up.
Lawliet sighed. “There was really no reason to be mean.”
“He was being disrespectful.” Jimmy rolled his eyes.
“To whom?”
“To you.”
“How? He was being nothing but nice until you said those things.”
“He asked if you were available for a good fuck!” Jimmy exclaimed incredulously.
Lawliet had no excuse for that. He looked at his bare feet.
Matt jumped back into the kitchen. “I say that to everyone!” he defended cockily.
Lawliet frowned. “I’ll see you later, Jimmy and Matt. I think I should go and continue talking to Mello.” Lawliet did not come back from his peaceful, fake death only to argue with immature little boys.
Matt followed closely behind, closing the door in Jimmy’s face. “So. He was obviously trying to get in your pants.”
Lawliet glanced at Matt, frowning. “Why would you say that?”
“Because the boy was all over you.”
Lawliet shook his head. “I refuse to believe that. He hasn’t seen me in two years, that’s all.”
“For a genius, you seem to be pretty socially awkward. You need someone to break the ice for you, or else you’re gonna stay like this forever.” Matt said, grabbing his arm and holding him in place.
Lawliet swallowed. Matt’s face looked even more intimidating and beautiful up close. “What? How?”
Matt smirked. “Like this.” He kissed Lawliet directly on the mouth, causing Lawliet’s eyes to widen, and a small squeal to leave his lips.
“Wha-?” Lawliet gasped after he pulled away.
Not much surprised Lawliet anymore. He had been a world-class detective for years, and it was hard to get anything by him. So why was he so shocked?
Matt chuckled. “Relax, Lawlipop. It’s just a kiss.” He continued toward Mello’s office, leaving Lawliet briefly frozen in his place, wiping at his lips with the back of his sleeve. He shook himself out of it and followed him.
Matt held the door open for him, and Lawliet walked into Mello’s office again, his face still slightly flushed from the kiss. Mello started to question it, but then shook his head and looked at Matt. “Trust you found cake?”
