Chapter 2

"Hm..." I covered my eyes from the rays of the sun. I slept really well last night and dreamed of the scenario yesterday. Chase's dazzling green eyes that pierced to my very soul, his luscious lips that kissed my neck, and his strong arms that prevented my fall. I swear, those were just a few reasons why I really-

Ring. Ring.

Who could it be? It's like, seven thirty in the morning.

"Hello?" I asked while I tried to contain my irritation. Who would dare to destroy my morning this early?

"Guess who?" I heard a teasing tone from the opposite line.

"C-Chase!" I was taken aback. I wasn't expecting this.

"You're right! And as a prize, I'll remind you that you have a job interview after the next thirty minutes! Congratulations!" He replied in a cheerful voice.

"Job interview?" I raised a brow.

Oh my gosh! "Bye Chase! Thanks for reminding me, I got to go." I hung up and darted towards the bathroom. I even bumped into my table which really hurt.

Ten minutes tops, that was the fastest bath that I had ever done in my entire life. I did all my best just to arrive at the Collins' residence on time, but I failed miserably.

"You're twenty minutes late." Mr. Collins tapped his watch. "If only we knew that you'd be late, we would have called another baby sitter."

"I'm so sorry. I just overslept but I promise that it won't happen again." I lowered my head then closed my eyes. "Please give me the job." I whispered as I crossed my fingers.

"I won't tolerate any lateness. Be late again and I'll have you out of this house." I glanced at him and nodded. He was fixing his tie.

"Yes. This will be the last time." I bit my lip.

"Good. We'll be going now. Bed time should be at nine o'clock. Got that?" Mr. Collins stepped out of the door after he saw me nod.

I gave out a sigh of relief, but then I flinched after hearing a soft chuckle behind me.

"Don't worry dear, I'm sure he's just in a hurry that's why he seemed so rude. We'll be going now, take care of the kids." Mrs Collins waved goodbye.

"Bye!" I smiled then shut the door.

This house wasn't really what we usually call a simple kind of home. It was a huge mansion. The Collins were obviously very rich. They owned expensive appliances, imported furniture, and priceless paintings. This was nothing compared to my house.

I explored the place, assuming that the kids were still sleeping. So far, I got into a bathroom, a music room, and others that don't exist in a normal home.

Suddenly, I heard screams. My heart pounded in my chest.

"The kids!" I panicked and ran towards the call of distress. I slammed the door open and was ready to attack the intruder.

"Where have you been? We were waiting for you, the whole morning." Allie rolled her eyes.

"Yeah. You must be Ashley. I can tell you already know us." Jacob held his toy gun and pretended to shoot me.

"Hey you guys, I see you're already awake." I clasp my hands together and walked towards them. "Who wants breakfast?" I asked cheerfully.

"Don't talk to us like that." Allie growled.

"Yeah! We're not kids anymore." Jacob pouted.

"I'm cooking pancakes and I'm going to put in a lot of syrup." I pretended to look at my nails.

"Pancakes?" Allies eyes grew wide.

"With a lot of syrup?" Jacob licked his lips.

"Yeah. You heard me right." I turned my back on them. "If anyone needs me, I'll be at the kitchen." I waved my hand.

I grinned as I watched the twins gobble the towering pancakes, flooded with syrup.

"What are you looking at?" Allie muttered. Her lips were stained with syrup.

"Nothing." I looked away.

"Mr Potato wants another plate of pancakes please." Jacob held out his Mr Potato and his empty plate.
