Kate

"Jake!" I yelled from our bedroom.

"What!" he shouted back at me as our little spaniel Guss jumped in my arms. Jake brought him for me after our third anniversary last year. He came running into the bedroom in the morning with his little puppy legs and a blue bow wrapped around his head. He was such a small little thing back then but now only a year and a bit older he runs around like a mad thing.

"Come carry me!" I lay in the bed lazily.

"Kate it's been five years. You can walk on your own now!" he shouted back. I pouted in annoyance he wasn't devoting himself to my every need. I was bored, I needed attention! Guss was more interested in his toy than me.

"Whatever happened to our wedding vows? I promise to walk for me when I can't, in sickness and in health. I'm sick so carry me" I grinned thinking that, that would do it but he didn't come running in.

"You're not sick! You're just pregnant" he pointed out. I stared down at my large baby belly.

"But I'm so FAT!"

"Good you needed some fat on you" he yelled. When I couldn't hear him coming up the stairs I started getting restless.

"Jake! Please!"

"FINE" I heard him slam something down before he came up the stairs to me. As he walked in he had my pink and white dotted apron on and flour all on his face and hair.

"What the hell happened to you?" I asked in amusement.

"I was baking. It was meant to be a surprise"

"I think I've created a monster" I giggle as he pulled me into his arms.

"Come on" he picked me up and carried me through to the kitchen, giggling the whole way. I took in the mess Jake had made of the place. There was flour everywhere, the icing on the walls and floor that now Guss was cleaning up. He dropped me gently down on the stool as I saw a pink and white frosted cake in front of me.

"What's this?" I laughed looking at the miss shaped, yet still amazing looking cake in front of me.

"A cake" he answered looking confused at me.

"I know that. Why?" I asked wondering if I had forgotten to celebrate something.

"Because six years ago today I walked into a cafe and spoke to a beautiful girl that couldn't stop flirting with me" I gasped lightly hitting his arm. "We may have both forgotten that at the beginning but it was the first time we met and it was six years ago today my life was changed forever" he wrapped his arms around my shoulders and leant down to kiss me.

"I like that story better than me sitting at your Mum's table with Jay. Who would have thought that this is how we would end up?"

"I knew from the beginning," he said all cocky.

"You did not! You hated me!" I laughed at him.

"No I didn't" he grinned shaking his head.

"Yes, you did!" I stood so we could be closer wrapped in each other's arms.

"I never hated you, I just wanted to hate you," he said making me laugh.

"You seem to always want to hate me"

"You're just too damn irresistible" he leant down so his lips slapped on to mine like a magnet.

"Wow! She's kicking" Jake laughed as he felt our little girl kicking up a storm.

"I never thought she was possible after the accident but here we are. Our little family" I moved my hand over my belly next to Jake's as we felt our little girl kick. I looked up to see Jake's face and nearly cried. He looked so adorably happy that my heartfelt full just by looking at him.

"My girls" he wrapped his arms around us. "I'm not letting anyone ever hurt you both"

"I feel for her future boyfriends" I laughed at his protectiveness.

"Boyfriends? As in more than one... no! She'll have one boyfriend and that is that" he already sounded like a Dad. I felt sorry for my daughter when she wants to bring a boy home in the future.

"You can't expect her to marry the first guy she dates" I joked.

"Well, she'll be in her thirties by then. Perfect age to start settling down" he spoke in a serious tone I had to laugh. "I'm not joking"

"Whatever you say babe" I lent up to kiss him silently. It was better to just let him win this one. "I love you," I said looking into those beautiful green eyes that have captured my heart since the moment he walked into my life. We have been through so much and nothing could come between us now. I finally felt safe knowing that whatever life throws at us next, we'll be together to fight it.

"I love you more" he grinned.

"That's not possible"
