I slammed my fist down on the table in front of me, making the wood crack from the force.
"Where the hell are they!" I yelled, making the men behind me flinch.
Two days since I have held my mate in my arms or heard her voice. Two days since I've felt her lips on mine. And within those two days I have felt her pain. I knew what was happening to her, yet I could do nothing to stop it.
"I don't understand. Where could they have gone?" I said through clenched teeth. When we first left, our first destination was Caleb's house, where Sam used to live. Only when we arrived there, the only thing to be found was the lingering scents of Julie and Sam, and my mates dried blood on the floor.
"I don't know James." Said Kaden. Looking at him I could tell he was going through the same kind of inner turmoil that I was. Not knowing what Julie as going through was really taking its toll on him. With Sam it was hard since I could feel all of her pain. But at least I knew she was still alive. Because Kaden and Julie never fully mated, the bond never formed like mine and Sam's did.
"She's fine Kaden." I said softly, putting a hand on Kaden stiff shoulder. "She's a lot tougher than most people think." I added.
"I know that Dammit!" he said stepping away from me. "But what ever they injected her with was obviously strong enough to get her out of your house without a struggle. Who knows what else it can do to her." He said. His voice, becoming softer as he dropped down to the bed.
We were currently in a small motel in New York City, waiting for Ben to return, hopefully with more information on there whereabouts.
"His damn connections better pay off." I said. Ben was one of those guys who had a finger in just about everything, and always knew someone where ever he went. When we arrived and found Caleb's house empty he set out to try and find something out. Hoping that someone had seen them leave, or knew where they were going. He could be very persuasive if need be when it came to getting the information he wanted.
My head shot up from my hands when heard the door open and Ben walked in. a smile on his face.
"Got it." He simply said, laying down a map on the already cracked table, showing a destination circled in red. Looking down at the map I felt a smile come across my face.
"Kaden?" I asked him as he looked up at me with hope in his eyes.
"Yea?" he said.
I woke up, feeling my stomach roll as the smell of mildew and dust came to my nose. Looking around I could tell that I was in some type of cabin, that from the looks of it hadn't been used in quite some time.
"Julie?" I asked, looking around the small room I was in. glancing over to the corner of the room I finally seen her. She was sting in an old rickety chair, her head slumped forward. Sitting up from the bed I was laying in I rushed over to her.
"Julie? Wake up!" I whispered, trying not to alert anyone else who could possibly be here that I was awake.
"Hmm?" she said, her eyes opening slightly. "Sam? Are you okay?" she asked me.
"I'm fine Julie. Are you okay?" I asked her, now seeing the dark purple bruise on her left cheek.
"You should see the other guy." She said, noticing my worried expression as I looked her over.
"What?" I asked her confused.
"After Caleb knocked you out they decided to move us somewhere else. Damien decided to try and get a little frisky, but lucky for me the drugs they gave me were starting to wear off so let's just say things didn't exactly happen the way he wanted them to." She said giving a weak chuckle, then wincing slightly.
"I tried to stay awake to see where they were taking us, but they injected me again and I lost consciousness somewhere in Vermont." She said. Apologetically.
"It's okay Julie. Were going to get out of here. I promise." I said, just as Caleb came storming back into the room.
"Hello Darling!" he said cheerfully as he walked over to me, grabbing me by my hair and throwing me on the bed.
"Sleep well?" he asked.
"Fuck you!" I spat, crawling back on the bed, trying to put as much space between us as possible, only making him laugh in response.
"Damien!" he called loudly.
"Yea?" he said, peeking his head through the door. I immediately noticed his black eye, and the large scratch mark down the side of his face.
"Take Julie into the living room." He said, never breaking eye contact with me. I heard the chair scraping against the floor as Julie was dragged from the room but her protests were cut short when I heard the sickening sound of skin hitting skin, then the door slamming shut. Leaving me and Caleb alone.
