No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t concentrate on the project.  Frustrated I picked up my cell phone and was disappointed when I didn’t find any messages from Jeremy.

I decided to call and explain everything. Jeremy didn’t answer the first time but when I called again after a while he answered my call. Listening to his voice sent shivers up my spine and I had to try hard to control my tears. His voice seemed like music to my ears.

“Hey Jeremy... it’s me, Alison.” I finally blurted out when he answered the call. I was sweating and shivering.

“Hey Alison, how are you?” He replied, his voice was cold but had a gentle touch to it.

“I’m good, how are you?”

“I’m fine.” He seemed hesitant so I decided I’d get to the subject.

“Hey I feel really bad about last night so I decided to call and check on you.”

“It must take a lot of confidence to first hurt someone badly and then call to check up on them.” He replied in a light voice.

“Listen it’s not what you think just let me explain-,” I wasn’t even halfway through the line when Jeremy cut me off.

“Hey Alison listen I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow, take care.”

And with that the line went dead. Tears started to run down my cheeks and I felt heartbroken. Now that I had seen his reaction on the phone call I started to worry if we could be the same again. I knew I’d only been on one date with him.

But to me, it was something more.

Something I couldn’t yet figure out.

With all these thoughts in my head I fell asleep and woke up early in the morning. I got out of bed and changed my clothes; then I went downstairs.

Soon it was time for school and I waved my family goodbye as I made my way to my car. I didn’t want to go to school but knew if I didn’t go my parents would assume something’s wrong and then I would have to answer to them too.

So halfheartedly I entered school and was soon accompanied by the cheerful Jennifer, she was happy because things with her and Jared were going great. I felt a bit jealous but soon I saw Jeremy in the hallway, he was wearing a dark blue and white shirt over denim jeans and looked gorgeous.

He saw me, smiled then turned away as if he just remembered that he was mad at me. The rest of the day passed without any glimpse of Jeremy. I saw Dylan a couple of times but made no attempt to go over and talk to him about the project because I was a bit frustrated with him. Most of my classes were with Jeremy including the science class but to my disappointment Jeremy didn’t come to sit with me instead he sat with Tiffany.

I was so shocked that I didn’t know what to think but then a really nice guy named Justin came to sit next to me. He had brown hair and hazel eyes, he was very kind and generous towards me. He was also fun to sit next to and was extremely funny; he kept me entertained all day and found out that even though I didn’t want to, I trusted him.

He was Jennifer’s old friend so he hung around with us all day. Jeremy seemed comfortable with Tiffany and unexpectedly calm but he would eventually look at me then turn away when I turned to look at him. I didn’t blame him.  After all, it was my fault, and I had hurt him.
