Chapter 27

CHRIS'S POV

There are moments in my life which I regret with all my being, moments where I would give anything for them to be undone and forgotten for they never happened. What happened to Danny was one of those moments, although ironically it led to one of the best ones of my life.

"Anything?"

Richard shook his head before turning back to look through the one-sided mirror, "Not a word. Luna?"

"Coping." I replied, staring blankly at the two-people I once trusted; who sat in the very same room that the Irish soothsayer sat in but a few weeks ago. We caught Matthew returning from the woods once we realised Danielle was missing. Her sister had called wanting to wish a happy new year, but once we went looking for her we realised she'd disappeared. Yvane had said she'd seen her go outside rather woozy, wanting fresh air; and by the time we'd search the forest opening it had began to rain. Any traces of her or anyone else were washed away, and it had taken hours, but we finally found her after 'interrogating' Matthew.

A horrible thing to do granted, but I don't regret it.

"Richard..." I began, titling my head toward him but continuing to look at the calm looking man and the crying woman. "Give us a moment, will you?"

"Yes, Alpha." He replied, turning for the door. I followed shortly after, reaching the interrogation room entrance were he and Jason, another soldier, stood.

Jason opened the door for me, and as I passed I placed a hand on his shoulder, "Whatever you hear, you don't come in until I get out; understand?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good man." I muttered, before entering the room with the door closing behind me; effectively leaving me alone with the two tied up wolves. I stopped for a few seconds and evaluated their condition with a blank expression, not giving anything off which was a look I'd mastered years ago. I felt a twisted sense of pleasure as I saw both of them visibly gulp.

Matthew got off the lightest injury wise, which I wasn't sure I should be proud or annoyed by. He'd acquired a black eyes and a busted nose during our 'Interrogation', as well as a few bruised ribs that would heal in a matter of hours due to the excess energy that all shifters harboured. That injury count would increase soon though.

Tinsley on the other hand, had maintained a more permanent injury. Although not dead, the knife in which Danny had thankfully used missed her brain by mere centimetres; but of course had caused her to lose and eye. Even shifters couldn't recover from something like that, so Tinsley was effectively half blind for the rest of her life. Her face was covered in tear tracks and her eye bandaged over with gauze which had been soiled by blood once again. She wore the uniform which was provided for prisoners of the pack; just your basic prison gear.

Not saying a word, I walked further into the room with my eyes trailed on the duo; giving nothing away as I leaned against the table with my hands far apart. Taking a few seconds in order to take in every detail of their faces, I must have gotten into their head somehow since more tears fell down Tinsley's bruised and bloodied cheeks. I severed their mind-link once I figured out what was happening, and so at that moment they were more alone than they'd ever been in their lives.
