After we've gotten McDonald's and we're seated back in Nathan's car, I decide I'm still not tired enough to go back home to bed. Instead, I find a slightly devious plan forming in my head.
"I know that look!" Aaron exclaims suddenly. "I seen it the night before you died my hair pink!"
"Hahaha!" Nathan bursts out laughing. "You had pink hair?"
I giggle uncontrollably as I recall a few summers back, when I'd forced Lucy to help me die Aaron's hair with bright pink fudge.
"Yes!" He snaps. "And it wasn't fucking nice,"
"You egged me on!" I point out. "You told me I would never live up to your pranks and so I had to prove myself,"
"What are you thinking of now?" Nathan asks.
"Nothing really," I admit honestly. "Let's just pick Lucy up and have a sleepover,"
"A sleepover?" Aaron says slowly. "You do realize it's nearly three thirty in the morning?"
"Yeah, so?" I shrug. "Let's force Lucy to wake up and then go and attack dad with cream and water balloons and all that crazy stuff,"
"I have school tomorrow," Nathan says.
"No, you have a half day tomorrow," I remind him. "And hardly no one even shows up on Wednesdays,"
"So you want me to ditch?" Nate asks, although it sounds more like a statement. He shakes his head. "You're corrupting me,"
"DML," I smirk at him.
"Exactly, draining my life," He chuckles as we pull up outside Lucy's house.
"I'm down for anything that involves spending more time with Nathan," Aaron winks at us from the middle seat in the back of the car.
"Ew," I groan. "Go and wake your cousin up,"
He laughs before jumping out the car and jogging to the front door. After finding his house keys he quickly enters.
"He's fucking hot," Nathan says dreamily.
"Go there!" I suggest wholeheartedly. "Even I can admit he's drop dead sexy,"
"Nah, I can't when I'm basically seeing another guy," Nathan says. "But that doesn't mean I can't look at him,"
"You do know he's going to keep flirting and teasing you until you give into him," I say lightly. "He's always been like that, he truly does get what he wants,"
"I'm sure I can handle myself," Nate rolls his eyes. "How hard can he be?"
"Pretty hard for you, apparently," I giggle again and Nathan smirks.
"Well I am hot,"
"Sure, sure," I laugh.
Ten minutes later Aaron emerges from the house, pulling a tired and cranky looking Lucy behind him. I bite my lip, knowing as soon as she gets in the car she will yell at me.
"Melissa Mckenzie Maddocks you better have a damn good reason for dragging me out of bed in this early god forsaken hour!" She snaps, slamming the car door.
"Hey!" Nate pouts as he pulls out of her driveway. "Don't take it out on Sally,"
"Who's Sally?" I ask.
"My car!"
"What a name," Aaron chuckles loudly.
"Don't change the subject!" Lucy says loudly. "Why am I here?"
"Well I couldn't sleep after dad woke Jaidyn and I up and rudely kicked us out of his bed. And so then, after Jaidyn fell asleep in my room, I decided I wanted your company-"
