Are you afraid to show yourself
The truth of you within
If you're afraid to let it out
Don't pick up brush or pen
The danger's real, of consequence
Interpretation rife
One can't create his opus mag
And not expose his life
No two can see most anything
And feel the same at all
Each will choose a medium
To answer Muse's call
Though paint or wood or sculpting clay
Are inert in themselves
They take on spirit from the hands
That took them from the shelves
Glass and metal, stone or words
When put together well
Express the heart inside the art
No other mind could tell
The body of a persons work
Will form a growing read
Of what he is and who she loves
And how we deal with need
Experience has shown of late
Creative urges strong
Expressing truth is dangerous
But truth is never wrong
Test the limits of your fear
Shout out or step aside
The truest part of you will out
So show yourself with pride
