Hate that I Love You
------------------------------

I hate that I love you
That you have power over me
I hate that I need you
That I don't want to be free.

Stop messing with my emotions
I'm not some game to win
You're just going through the motions
And I'm starting to wear thin.

I tend to care too strong
To love too fiercely
To want and to long
And keep you near me.

It hurts so good to love you
But this is a two way street
You're on my heart like a tattoo
Without you I'm incomplete.

You are not alone in this
Please don't push me away
Don't sink into the black abyss
Where night is always day.

Take my hand, hold on tight
I will never let you go
I will hold on I'm willing to fight
Because you're worth it, you know.

What madness is this burning inside
That tears at my weighted lungs?
I wish you would just put away your pride
And sheath all the knives and guns.

Right now I'm too angry to speak
Mad at you; mostly mad at myself
I don't want to appear weak
Yet I won't put my feelings on a shelf.

Just let me know what's going on
Because the worry makes me cry
I sit in fear of the bitter dawn
Hoping you didn't die.

the meter isn't perfect because emotions are never perfect. it's supposed to be ragged and broken, contrasted by the close rhyme scheme to show that some things can go right, but nothing in life is faultlessly structured. We have to work together to get even close to achieving perfection
