Chapter 28

Nagkita kami ni Joshua sa tambayan nila bago siya lumipat ng Ilocos. 

"Hi.", sabi ko. Ngumiti siya. Hinila niya ako papuntang conference room. Pinakita niya sa akin ang laptop niya. "What is this about?", tanong ko. 

"You deleted her picture and I guess I have to delete everything as well." Dinelete niya ang lahat ng videos at pictures nila na naka save. 

"How would I know baka may ibang copy ka ba diyan?", tumawa siya.

"Magiging dramatic ba ako ng ganito kung may nakatago pa pala?"

"Malay ko ba baka niloloko mo lang ako."

"No, I'm not going to do that anymore.", sabi niya nang nakatingin sa mata ko ng seryoso.

"You're evil.", sabi ko. 

"Huh? Bakit?"

"Who confesses and then leave?", tanong ko. "How will you be responsible for that?" Ngumiti siya. 

"I can only be responsible if you feel the same way."

"Then be responsible.", ngumiti siya ng malaki at tumalon talon. "Ang saya mo ha." Lumapit siya sa akin at niyakap ako. "I will come back as someone you will be proud of.  I will come back as someone who can protect you fully." 

"Huwag masyadong matagal.", sabi ko. "Baka makahanap ako ng iba."

"Eh di aagawin kita.", pinalo ko siya sa likod habang nakayakap pa rin kami. "Joke, let's see what will happen, I just hope you'll wait for me."

"Let's see." Nagpaalam na ako sakanya. Nasa pintuan na siya ng tambayan nang pumasok si Job. "What are you doing here?"

"Cassie, you have to do this.", sabi ni Josh at tuluyan nang umalis. 

Umupo ako sa sofa at umupo siya sa katabing upuan. 

"How are you?" Isa't kalahating linggo ang nakalipas mula noong nalaman ko ang totoo. Hindi pa rin kami nag-uusap ni El simula noon. Hindi ako sumagot. "Cassie, I'm sorry.", sabi niya. 

"For what? Tapos na, nasaktan niyo na ako Job. And you know what's worse? I actually thought you're the better brother than Josh."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Since I entered their family, I've always been jealous of his life that's why I tried to be better than him in everything. But, ironically, no matter how hard I try, he's always the winner."

"It's not a competition you know."

"I wish it was not. Maybe be started on the wrong foot and hated each other for no reason. Maybe we ended up like this because we can't accept the fact that we only have each other now.", sabi ni Job. "He likes you very much and I stopped pursuing you when he told me the truth. My mistake was I used that opportunity to get back to him."

"Why are you telling me this now?"

"We broke up.", sabi niya. Ha? Wala na sila? "I know that would make you forgive her." Tanga ba sila? Hindi ba nila ako kilala?

"Wow, ganyan ba tingin niyo sa akin? Hindi niyo ba ako kilala?" Tumayo ako. "I never wanted you two to break up! I just need time to think and process this! Alam niyo namang hindi ko kayang magtagal na may kaaway diba?", sabi ko. Hindi siya tumitingin sa akin. "Do you really like her?"

"Yes."

"Paano ko malalaman kung seryoso ka talaga eh bingyan mo din ako ng ganyang mukha noong nagtapat ka sa akin?"

"I was serious back then. But I understand why you're so skeptic. Me, breaking up with her is the proof I truly love her."

"Huh? Eh wala na nga kayo eh. For sure umiiyak siya ngayon."

"No, gusto niyang makipaghiwalay pero ayoko. But I gave in when she looked so sad. She can't eat or even look at me." 

"I know.", sabi ko. 

"You can hate me all your life but please forgive El. I can't see her suffer like that." Hayy, maniniwala ba ako sa mokong na 'to?

"I already forgave her. I just need time before I can talk to her. She's my sister okay, so of course I'm also hurt. Bago mo subukang ayusin 'yung sa amin, ayusin mo muna yung sainyo ng kapatid mo."

"I can't face you if I haven't.", sabi niya. "We talked last night and we cleared things up before he leaves." Natahimik ako. Sa bati na sila?

"That's great.", sabi ko. "Just let you know that I don't hate you Job, I was hurt and you have to respect that. I don't ask you to kneel down for forgiveness or for us to go back to how we were before. Just, give me time.", sabi ko. Tumayo ako at lumabas ng tambayan. 

Sometimes, we just need to be given time to process things. Tamang timing lang.
